Quite simply, Rains is a spirited guy from the Midwest who wants to share his stories with the world. He is “every man", and chances are good that every man will identify
with his stories. From stories about dreams and friendship to failure and abuse, Rains writes real songs about real people and real issues.
Rains is a band for the people, and it’s about time. People need a band to get behind and band to believe in; they need a band that can make them proud. Nothing trendy –
something real.
Hailing from a small town in northern Indiana, Jeff Rains understands the meaning of hard work, struggles, and life’s challenges. The talented tattoo artist is driven,
serious, and committed to his beautiful young family and his career. He is passionate about everything that he does, and he will make you feel every emotion you never
thought possible.
Rains released his first full-length album Stories in February 2006 and sold over 12,000 copies independently. He has played countless regional shows, including a 2007
headlining sell-out at the 2,000-capacity club Piere’s in his current hometown of Fort Wayne. Backed by a 5-piece band that includes his wife and brother, Rains commands
the stage with a powerful sound and raw emotion that draws the audience in from the first phrase.
In the dead of winter 2007, Rains packed up the family and trekked to Toronto, Canada, to record with producer Trevor Kustiak (Evans Blue). His resulting second album Right
or Wrong promises to assure the devoted fans that the new music was worth the wait and also open the door to a new wave of listeners. The title track was inspired by his
daughter Lily, who frequented the studio throughout the recording process.
Mirroring the lyric in his song “Hurricane,” Rains truly is a “young man with an old man’s heart.” He is wise beyond his 24 years, a keen observer of life and human
behavior. Like the other classic songwriters and storytellers from the Midwest that have come before him – from John Mellencamp to Tracy Chapman – he offers a window to the
heart and soul of “the American Dream.”
