"It’s a highly enjoyable mix of folk rock and indie-pop, all sung with an emphasis on loose harmony and played with an ear for the dramatic. I’m very excited to hear what this band is capable of next." -James Burns, Pop Headwound
"They do nifty things with banjo, ukulele, and mandolin, but in the context of their anthemic, romantic pop, those instruments don’t sound folksy so much as otherworldly" -Monica Kendrick, The Chicago Reader
"From the instant Raise High the Roof Beam took the stage, they had their audience in their palms, and gave them a perfectly tousled ride through their seamless catalogue." -Chris DeSalvo, The Consequence of Sound
"The eclectic five-piece create charming and infectious pop music while utilizing an array of instruments from synthesizers to banjos, ukuleles, and mandolins. An explosion of sound dissolves into earnest lyrics, creating some incredibly catchy multi-layered songs." -Lisa White, Gapers Block
"Chicago's Raise High the Roof Beam routinely bends happy-sounding instruments and themes and twists them to have an air of sadness, but it's grippingly beautiful nonetheless. (Who said the ukulele can't be depressing?)" -The Onion
"Their looseness builds and congeals into romantic, driving choruses with a lot of shimmery guitar work. They may be newbies, but they know exactly what they are doing, and they do it well." -Jessica Hopper, The Chiago Tribune
"Raise High The Roof Beam has given (their songs) a backdrop that makes me want to do a dance that would make the beach movie crowd proud. There's an energy and exuberance and it's just plain fun." -The Local Tourist
..
Raise High the Roof Beam is a musical collective consisting of five members: Thomas, Aly, Scott, Josh, and Will. With a wide range of influences and musical styles the quintet offers an energy level and style that is hard to find. The diverse musical interests of the group inform a unique, upbeat sound, and each of the band’s members brings a wide range of influences to the new project. Together since late February, the quintet’s live show is energetic and exciting, always engaging the dancing crowd.
Backing their oft-employed group vocal sing-alongs, the band implements an eclectic array of acoustic and electric instruments, from the rock-standard guitars and synthesizers to the folk-based banjo, ukulele and mandolin to add layer upon layer to their sparkling pop gems. “The band keeps viewers guessing with
unexpected breaks in songs and unpredictable melodies,” says NBC5’s street team.
After two months of live shows, with a growing base of dedicated fans, Raise High the Roof Beam took shelter in their self-built studio to record The Buildup, a five-song EP. After weeks of long days and even longer nights, Raise High the Roof Beam has created a record they can’t wait to share with the Chicago music scene
Currently, Raise High the Roof Beamis recording new tracks and playing lots of shows. The entire band is very excited to play your venue/bar/loft/basement/dungeon/bathroom/industrial warehouse.

Sonicbids is an Artist and Promoters Worst Nightmare
Recently we began a trial usage of Sonicbids service for our artist and band searches.
As a result of that test it became clear that Sonicbids is all about earning money at the expense of artists looking to break through the wall that surrounds the music industry.
Based on our experiences from both the perspective of artists we are associated with seeking to benefit from opportunities offered though Sonicbids. As well as from the perspective of promoters searching for talent through Sonicbids service.
We have concluded that Sonicbids operation is nothing more than another one of these money making SCAMS that is generating as much as $8,000,000.00 a year for Sonicbids at the expense of artists and bands paying subscription fees on top of submission fees to be considered by promoters utilizing Sonicbids services. Of which many of these Promoters are running nothing but a SCAM on artists or bands that apply.
First, you should be aware of where the money goes. For every dollar an Artist or Band pays for Sonicbids’ subscription fees, it goes directly into Sonicbids pockets. Second, the first $100.00 of every listing by a promoter, as well as 50% of all fees you pay for any listing also goes directly into the pockets of Sonicbids. This means that Sonicbids is, by our estimation, pocketing over 75% of all monies collect from unsuspecting artists and bands.
We also believe that for every band that pursues any individual opportunity at least 50 artists or bands have applied for it, and in some cases 1,000’s of artist or bands. And in many instances after paying the fees and being selected the artist or band finds out they have to pay additional fees to be included, or they will receive a notice from the promoter telling them that even if they weren’t selected, if they want to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars they can still be included in the opportunity.
We are seeking both male and female artists with strong and unique vocal ability, talent, and style. An artist must stand out above the crowd, have a great voice, and be available to record and tour full time.
Any artist selected will be contracted for a 52 weeks period prior to the commencement of the tour at a rate of between $650.00 and $1,200.00 per week that shall be based on their talent and potential. All travel expenses shall be provided for in addition to the weekly salary if an artist is selected.
Artist must be available to travel and perform a maximum of 7 shows per week that will consist of sets between 45 and 90 minutes in length. In some instances there will be two shows scheduled on the same day. Artist must also make themselves available for any and all rehearsals, studio recordings, promotional appearances, and photo or video shoots as part of this agreement.
There is currently a search for two types of bands for record label consideration.
*** Note: PLEASE IDENTIFY IF YOU ARE IN GROUP 1 OR 2 IN THE SUBJECT LINE OF YOUR RESPONSE. Emails are being reviewed by different representatives.

However, one lead and one rhythm is acceptable), keyboard/piano, bass, and drums. Lead vocal, followed by backing vocals, in that order, is a plus as it relates to other members of the group. Average age of the band cannot exceed 28 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
2. A Modern Rock band with male lead. Must be a complete band but there are no prerequisites as it relates to the make up of the band. Average age of the band cannot exceed 23 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
