RAJohn’s professional career began in 1988, with his company Mi Gente Productions in Newport News, Virginia. At that time, he was widely known for hosting Salsa events for the Latino Community. In 1992, he added more event productions to his repertoire, hosting and organizing talent shows, concerts, teen events, and fashion shows in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Illinois, Kansas, and California. Special events and ultra private affairs became the mainstay of his production company for several years.
RAJohn’s first experience with the recording industry was in 2000 with Philadelphia recording artist Judah and the Daughters of Zion. RAJohn executive produced Judah’s first album project, Phase One. The album -- a unique melding of hip-hop, R&B, jazz, reggae, and spoken word -- was strictly on the underground and featured the hit song “Streets of Illadelph.” The industry grew on him even further as a result of his success with Judah. Later, he produced album projects for such acts as The Black Syndicate, The Henchmen, Yes Suh, Criminal, S.U.N, Crux, Team Heartless, San Don, Daviance, Jelu Beatz, Cheba, Eddie S & Aurora in Flight, and others.
The year 2005, marked yet another addition to the company’s entertainment lineup. RAJohn met Chicago filmmaker Joseph Fitzgerald Gibson, who at the time was distributing his independent film, “If Jesus Was A Homeboy.” Under Joseph Fitzgerald’s tutelage, RAJohn produced and directed his first piece entitled “STREETZ.” That film project added a new dimension to the business and spawned the birth of RAJohn Entertainment, LLC, a full service entertainment company.
