*~*A Dream or a Vision*~*
I had a dream the other night; it was clear as could be.
Here in our region, a "No Kill shelter," I could vividly see.
Citizens visited and supported it, near and far away.
Animals who once moved with hopelessness,
with thanks did silently pray.
Dogs’ tails were wagging, cats were purring
and other types of life forms, I did see.
And then, within my sight, a calendar appeared
and the year was two thousand and three.
Was this a dream or a vision only time will tell?
But, if it becomes reality, it will serve our animals and mankind well.
About me:
Raleigh County Animal Rescue (RCAR) is based in Coal City, West Virginia. We are a small, no-kill, 501(c)3 organization. We foster in our homes and are limited to the number of animals we can maintain. We are dedicated to helping homeless, abandoned or abused animals. Our efforts are guided toward finding permanent homes for our animals. Please be sure your animals have on their i.d. tags at all times. Along with this, we stress the importance of neutering and spaying all pets.
RCAR's meeting will be held the first Tuesday of each month, at 6 pm, in the Raleigh County Public Library (Beckley). Meetings are located downstairs and the public is invited. Come and help save a life. Please help us make a difference in the lives of our pet companions.
We are always in need of new members and volunteers. We need foster homes, volunteers to help out at adoptions, rummage sales, and other fund-raising events. We accept donations of cat and dog food, cat litter, collars, leashes, cleaning supplies, clean towels, blankets, cat & dog toys, pet taxies etc. Every little bit helps! Any of these items can be left at Peggy's Video in Crab Orchard.
RCAR will have pet adoptions at Pet Supplies "Plus" and Tractor Supply - located in Beckley (W V) on North Eisenhower Drive, which is between Wal-Mart and Sams Club.
RCAR has now joined forces with some volunteers in Gainesville/Manassas Va. This joint effort benefits kitties from both areas. This greatly helps RCAR because we have the supply and they have the demand. Currently, we are holding adoptions at the Petsmart stores in Gainesville and Manassas.
On Tuesdays, the RCARs staff can be found on the noon news at CBS 59. This station so graciously allows us the air time and calls the segment a Paws in the News. RCAR thinks this is very clever and we really appreciate all CBS 59 does.
On Fridays, the RCARs staff is on WOAY Channel 4 which is located in Oak Hill, WV. The segment airs during the noon news. WOAY does a great job! We are forever grateful.
Tuesday mornings we can be found on Groovy's 94.1 with Morrow in the Morning.
* The Raleigh County Animal Rescue does require potential pet guardians to sign a contract that states the pet is to be spayed or neutered when age appropriate. Also, new guardians are to provide future veterinarian care and allow the RCAR to check on the pet in the future. The adoption price on each pet varies. The RCAR reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone the RCAR feels is unsuitable to adopt.

DOG LOST IN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT ON I-77 NEAR RIPLEY, JACKSON COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA.
MARCH 27, 2009
DOG LOST IN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT NEAR RIPLEY ON I-77. MARCH 27, 2009
A husband and wife and their little dog (small Chihuahua) were in a car accident in the afternoon of March 27, 2009 on I-77 near the Ripley exit.
Their 1 year old male Chihuahua was lost at the scene of the accident. The highway patrol looked for him and did not find his body.
The Chihuahua was wearing a collar, however his tag was found in the truck after the accident. The vehicle came to rest after rolling 2 times and landing on its side. The Chihuahua was sitting on his wife's lap yelping, when the man reached for him he jumped out.
Traffic was backed up for miles. The highway patrol officers looked for him, but couldn't find him. So, since his little body wasn't found we're thinking that someone who was stopped in traffic may have picked him up.
If he is brought into your Rescue, Shelter or Animal Hospital, or if someone contacts you about a dog fitting this description, please contact me.
Thank you,

I just wanted to thankyou so much for taking care of Tabby a stray kitty that someone broke her ankle bone. You took care of having Dr. Wills pin her leg together and she gets her stitches out next week. She is a precious kitty and so very loveable. I already adopted two other cats and this one is just as sweet.
I have adopted a cat and dog from you guys. Maddie, a gray cat, which was Baby Blue and Molly, a terrier mix. They are the 2 best animals, besides the one I got from the shelter, years ago. I wish I could foster animals, but my husband would kill me. He said I would keep them all!! I am so happy we have people like you in WV!!
