“Rally For One” is an acoustic, soulful, alternative band that was formed in the early spring of 2007. Their sound relies on tight vocal harmonies and complementing guitar rhythms. They always joke about how they don’t have a lead singer, but in reality, they have four!
They’re based out of Southern California but al hail from all over the country. Their bassist, Marty (25), and rhythm guitarist, Blake (21), both come from Traverse City, Michigan. Brett (23), on lead guitar, comes from Nebraska and their drummer, John (23), hails from New Jersey. The four met in “The Young Americans,” a non-profit performing arts group based out of Corona, California.
Over the next 3 years, they were very fortunate to tour the world with “The Young Americans” including the U.S., Germany, England, Ireland, Scotland, and Japan. Blake, Brett, and Marty began writing music together during their first year in the group. In the summer of 2006, all four were part of a dinner theatre up in Northern Michigan, where they began writing music together.
Rally For One has performed in venues from L.A. to Riverside along with a mini-tour through Nebraska. Just finishing their debut album entitled, “Dreamin’,” the band will begin their first national tour this fall that will take them across the country, from Los Angeles clear to the Great Lakes of Michigan.
John Humphries - vocals/all percussion
John, 23, sings and plays drums with Rally For One. Born in Philadelphia and raised in South Jersey, John began to take singing seriously at age 9. He started teaching himself the drums when he was 11 and has been a performer all his life. He's heavily into writing (screenplays, stories, and music) and feels he is living out his dream with his "band mates".
Brett Maline vocals/ lead guitar Brett (23), hails from the great state of Nebraska and is proud to be a Cornhusker fan! Along with the band, Brett takes classes at Groundlings, an improv-acting school in Hollywood, California. His hobbies include playing basketball, enjoying an occasional round of golf, and sitting on the beach with nothing to do:).
Blake O'Brien vocals/rhythm guitar
Blake O'Brien (22) was born and raised in Traverse City, Michigan and is the rhythm guitar player of Rally For One. He moved out to California when he turned 18 and has been performing ever since. Blake started writing music when he was just (10) years old and recorded it over one of his dad's favorite tapes. He's wanted his whole life to write and sing songs with his best friends, and is very happy to be doing exactly that.
Marty Sage vocals/bass guitar
Marty Sage (25), is from Traverse City, Michigan. He enjoys: playing music, eating, and girls…IN THAT ORDER!
