About me:
IN THE LIMELIGHT---FROM 8-SECOND RIDES TO 90-MINUTE SETS
--Ralph lives life with a passion every day and enjoys it to the fullest.
A champion bullrider and avid Texas Music guitarist, this Tejano lives
and loves Texas culture to the max. He knows what he wants and is not
afraid to work hard for it.
At fourteen, he would ride his bike to the nearby Resistol Arena in Mesquite, home to the world-renowned Mesquite Championship Rodeo and helped with the horses and animals until he came to the attention of Jim Gay, a bullrider and son of the Mesquite Rodeo founder, Neal Gay. He began helping at their ranch, practiced riding the bulls, became a favorite of the weekly televised Mesquite Rodeo and even his bullriding made it to a television series—yep—check out that Chuck Norris episode where Walker, Texas Ranger is riding a bull at the rodeo.
Ralph won his Championship buckle in 1997 and stayed in the top 15 of the PRCA circuit for several years until 2000 when he was thrown off a bull and busted a knee. Not one to sit back, though, he took up guitar lessons during his convalescence. “Playing in front of an audience,” he says, “is one of the closest things to bullriding”. Hmmmmmm----must be that rush of adrenaline in the limelight!
Catch him on stage with the Dirt Road Gypsies or jamming with any of his Texas Country Music loving amigos!!
Ralph, for who you are and all that you do, you ARE always a Fun Folks favorite.
