Ralph Pace Jr. from North White Plains, N.Y. say's "it's a family thing" since his dad, Ralph C. Pace Sr., was a drum instructor and internationally know author of eleven instructional books, and came up with a patiented practice pad drumset that he had sold all over the world. His dad began to teach him to play at the age of 4. He then went on to study with famed teachers Jim Chapiin, Joe Morello, Joe Cusatis, and Drummers Collective in NYC, as well as the International World Festival at Berklee School of Music in Boston and has a BS in business from St. Leo College. Ralph says that he has been influenced by every drummer and style of music possible!
Ralph is currently living and working as a freelance drummer with several bands, playing all styles of music in the Nashville area since 1981. His recent group, The Count Pacie Jazz Trio featuring either a guitar or piano as the lead instrument has it's first CD, entitled "Because Of You", which is receiving a great response! He has also played on numerous recording sessions and jingles. His first three and a half years in Nashville were spent touring with Vern Gosdin, Keith Whitley, Terri Gibbs, Cristy Lane and T.G. Sheppard and has recorded with Crystal Gayle, Gary Morris, Blackbone (a 4 piece original Rock/Pop band), Som Brasileiro (a 9 piece Brazilian band), the Group Tachoir (a jazz/classical/compostional group consisting of vibes, piano, bass and drums)
He has also played with Steve Cropper, Albert Lee, Billy Gibbons, Victor Wooten, Dee Murrey (from Elton John), Herb Ellis, Tal Farlow, Larry Carlton, and David Hungate (Toto) David Santos (John Fogerty). One of his most memorabe experiences was playing with famed pianist Joe Sample at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center during the Dove Awards with just a snare drum and brushes.
He is a highly respected drum instructor who is very proud of his current project, a 3 part instructional drum book entitled "Foundations Of Drumming". His students range from beginners to professional drummers on tour. His drumming, likable personality and integrity speak for themselves.
Ralph endorses DW drums (Drum Workshop), Vic Firth Drum Sticks, Attack Drum Heads, Dixon Bass Drum Lift, Kickport and uses Zildjian and Sabian Cymbals. His future includes performing drum clinics, promoting sales of his drum books and drum instrutional Videos and continue recording with his jazz trio, and playing the music he loves to play!
Most recently he has been enjoying playing and producing a project with a tremendous singer/songwriter artist Minnie Murphy.
On his off time he enjoys swimming, sailing, bicycling, walking, snow skiing, flying RC planes, riding his cruiser bike, and his '40 Ford convertible coupe Streetrod, Vacationing in the British Virgin Islands, Maui, and also spending time at their home in the New York area.
