Hot new release on Mutated Music, featuring mixes from the mighty Dj
Meme & the Stereo Mutants. Also includes the querky original and
lounge groove from RYB..HOT HOT HOT!!!
We start off 2008 in fine
fashion with this little gem from Australian residents Ralph Wirski
& Kristie Glab. Mutated Music N06 is a mellow house groove produced
by Ralph and comes complete with Sublime vocals written and sung by
Kristie. We have pulled out all the stops for the remixes and on
duties we have none other than DJ Meme with his club remixes complete
with ‘real’ strings, these mixes really do the job on the floor. The
Stereo Mutants now back in the studio after a break, turn in 2 mixes
for those deeper dancefloor moments. Finally RYB get in on the act and
produce a beautifully crafted mellow bar groove that’s sure to get your
mouths watering…what a package!
written & produced by R.Wirski & K.Glab.
Additional remix & production by the Stereo Mutants, RYB &
DJ Memê for Open House productions (Piano and keys - Hiroshi Mizutani)
recorded and mastered & Digiplay Studios UK.

A. LAZLO FEAT DAN THOMAS NOTHING BETTER
B. SMART KID CITY TASTE
Dig the jazzy workout on the B side, which has nice warm up/bar vibes.
Ben Watt (Buzzin Fly)
WOW...City Taste vocal edit is even better than the A!! Keep it coming HNE
Leo Elstob (Faith)

Larry Heard (Alleviated Records/ Various / USA)
Really feeling the Lazlo and ’City Taste Vocal’ is getting spins as well ! Great production too.
Ashley Beedle (X-Press 2)
Love the pianopella such a soulful voice. Playing it out lots
Robert Owens
HNE001 will be a hard debut release to follow for this new stable, but when we learn that Robert Owens is next in the pipeline, it does offer up some sort of optimism. The featured vocalist on Nothing Better features London Community Gospel Choir member Dan Thomas, who sounds like a vocal cocktail comprising of Sylvester and Byron Stingly. The press blurb has hit the backing track flava right on the head, think bobbling analogue bass, a la Closer Than Close by Rosie Gaines youll get the picture. Add superior male backing vocals that smother the cut with a thick glossy coat of soul and a seriously jazzy keyboard break out and the results are like a rush of Dipipanone Hydrochloride. The Pianopella demonstrates Thomas gospel roots in its purist form, as the track is stripped back to an awe-inspiring vox and piano melt down. Smart Kid City Taste is a two mix affair also. Enjoy yet more jazzy keyboards on the instrumental, whilst are soul desires are taken care of by the Vocal Edit. A label that is off to a phenomenal start, you got to get this. 4/5

the A-side really does it for me.
Keep up the good work,
Rainer Truby (Compost / Various / Germany)
Thanks for this - A1 is beautiful. A2, yes very Rosie Gaines! B side - very nice Miguel Migs vibe. Not the kind of the stuff I normally review but do keep sending me tunes!
Giles Smith (DJ Mag)
The first release on London based label, Hear No Evil, sees Lazlo featuring Dan Thomas and Smart Kid share the honours. The first track, Nothing Better from Lazlo just lets loose, with vocals and a live piano, in true jazz club style. The following mix, with zany keys and deep oozing beats rolls out in true old-skool style, Dan Thomas at his finest. Then we switch to Smart Kid City Taste dropping a deep bassline into the sound, with more superb keys and wandering chords to fill the track out, keeping it cool and jazzy all the way. The final mix, adds a female vocal to affairs, lifting the disco, happy-clappy vibes and leaving you on a feel good tip having enjoyed 4 fine tracks.

Pick of the week:
Jaffa Music follow up their massive debut release "Miscommunicate" with "Freedom" by Rachel Claudio which is guaranteed to take dancefloors by storm. "Freedom" features a heartfelt, gospel tinged vocal performance over a ferocious funk flavored house groove that is enriched with wicked keys. Remixes are courtesy of DJ Fudge who reworks the track into a stormin’ peaktime affair with an irresistible piano, while Raw Artistic Soul deliver a more laidback, beautifully instrumentated interpretation. Lastly Ralphski takes it to deeper and even more laidback grounds, letting warm melodic chords and a smooth groove create a mellow feeling.
Chris Samba (Dragon-I Hongkong)
Incredible All 4 remixes are off the hook in their own right!! very difficult to decide which one to play!!!

Ralphski’s Remix - This mix is totally out of this world. The message of Freedom and accommodating music make this track really nice to dance to but most important the message.

It Ain’t So - ralphski’s Broken Soul Remix
White Lotus Club Germany
This is a remix that features Victor Bynoe who is the current front man of THE DRIFTERs.
Out in white Lotus Records in
Germany. It’s called it ain’t so and is by "daddy funk 45". The other
mixes are quite clubby so I gave it a jazzanova style broken, percussive &
soulfull treatment, dig it here:
Sometime in the 1970s or 80s in Eastern Europe, my father, an engineer, was designing something entitled the Communist Shuffle. My mother, a metallurgist, decided that the Communist Shuffle could not be a proper dance until it had what the polish call "Wiecej dzwonek" which roughly translates to "more cowbell".
Later, the Communist Shuffle became the Warsaw Shuffle, and was viewed as Dangerous by the authorities who declared martial Law in Poland. We immigrated to Australia where we were given refuge status.
A year later I discovered Mount Kosciusko before anyone else had ever even seen it before, and was given the Order of Australia, along with two free rolls of toilet paper, something of a luxury in communist Poland. I met some famous people, including the Mayor of France, and quickly descended into a life of a drug taking, natural living, deeply religious atheist.
As punishment for my lifestyle and antics (details of which are protected by the Australian Homeland Security Act, 1969, section 3c) I was locked into a windowless, doorless, airless, room that within it’s stainless steel walls, floor, and ceiling, contained a single stereo, a single CD and a single CD player with two speakers. The CD was labelled "Folks are Dumb where I come from". The only way for "them" to pump air into the room and for me to survive was for me to listen to the CD.
Eventually I was to weak too care about the missed beats.
I danced with Humpty Dumpty.
I laughed at the walls.
I played along to the laughter.
I rejected Godfather 3.
After 48 days of listening to the CD, and repenting all other things, I was let go and released into the wild.
I now obey that CD.
I make music.
I record and produce other people.
I remix bands and singers.
Other people remix me.
On a good day I get paid for it.
I also DJ using these big black discs that can only fit two songs on each side and have no place in our modern society.
Sometimes I do it sober, but prefer not too.
And I swear, every word is nearly true.
I am also a member of the avante-garde Tsuki LaLa project, which is making noise world wide (assuming people play it on their stereos world wide). Our debut EP "glamorous world of running alone", is far from terrible and available now on
itunes
,
emusic
,
napster,
rhapsody,
and other good music retailers.
We now have a six piece electronic / acoustic live show featuring a horn section, acoustic and electric guitars, two vocalists, and some idiot monkey fisting the keyboard. But damn it, it's crazy time...
And yes, we're taking bookings... internationally you can get in touch with lara@geishabar.com.au , while UK and nearby Europe bookings just email bookings@leftfootrecords.com.
