Sounds Like
Years of traditional bluegrass roots with some healthy respect, individuality and good old-fashioned country thrown in.
A native Virginian from Coeburn, Ralph II is the son of Ralph and Jimmi Stanley. For the past several years, Ralph II has distinguished himself as lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the Clinch Mountain Boys. Ralph II is now signed with Lonesome Day Records and has five solo projects out. He is an accomplished songwriter, having penned many of the songs that are included on his albums. Both of his most recent CD’s “Stanley Blues” and “Carrying On” were nominated for Grammys. His current release, This One is II, has gained enormous praise from both critics and fans alike.

The latest album "This One is Two," , went to 2 on the Roots Country Charts, on which, 'Train Songs' went to 1 on the Bluegrass charts. You can read a bit about it below. There are autographed copies available at www.ralphstanleyii.com and shipping is included in the price of $20. You can also download individual songs (ain't technology great?) Be sure to join the fan club while you're on there if you are so inclined.
Hope to see you soon!
"Ralph Stanley II sings lead in his famous father’s bluegrass band, the slot once occupied by the great Keith Whitley. And like Keith, he’s a sensational honky-tonk vocalist who is completely at home with a hardcore country song. Ralph’s new This One Is II album is one of the finest country albums of the year, and this Lyle Lovett cheating-murder song is one of its many highlights. Jim Lauderdale provides high harmony. Buy this record."
