Elephant Revival Concept
Elephant Revival Concept, whether it is distance, personal obstacles or differing states of mind, the contributors to this concept are constantly working to break down the barriers in order to remove the obstacles and to embrace the revival. This is the dance we all revel in and the celebration is open for us all to share. In this respect, we can all help to revive the lost energies of the mystic Elephant tribes.
The Grant Gordy Quartet
Featuring several of the most talented acoustic players on the Front Range, the Grant Gordy Quartet has been quietly producing intricately arranged original avant-garde newgrass for audiences nearly as diverse as the music itself. This group pushes the limits of acoustic music to a place that is as fun as it is challenging.
Alan Vasquez
Close your eyes, and you hear an entire band. Open your eyes, and you can't believe you only see one man on stage. Alan Vasquez uses effects, pedals, and looping technology in combination with acoustic, electric and bass guitars, mandolin, percussion and more to create an amazingly unique sound. Audiences are astounded by seeing a single artist become so connected to his music in a live setting.
Oakhurst
Oakhurst is a Denver-based international act with deep Appalachian roots and highly original songs that fuse traditional bluegrass with indie-rock and a citybilly attitude. The band's sound is more rustic and rocking, and less jazzy and jammed, than the typical hybrid bluegrass found in the Rocky Mountain region. Oakhurst is one of the hardest working bands in America. Oakhurst played over 200 shows in 20 states and 5 European countries in 2006. 2007 will feature more of the same with two European tours already scheduled, and invitations to several major festivals. Even though their tour schedule is incessant, the band never stops playing. On off days the boys of Oakhurst take to the streets, deploying their Rocky Mountain Guerrilla Grass style, making new friends, promoting shows, and moving a few CDs. They have been known to trade after hours acoustic shows for places to stay, or show up at festival campsites on golf carts to pick around the fire.
Euforquestra
Euforquestra is an eclectic world-beat ensemble from Iowa City, IA with interests in different cultural and traditional musics from all over the globe. The band has made a mission statement out of preserving different traditions, undescriminatingly trying anything at least once and fusing different styles that appeal to them. The self-proclaimed "Afro-Caribbean-Barnyard-Funk" touches on such genres as Afrobeat, Afro-Cuban, Samba, Soca, Funk, Reggae, and Bluegrass.
Two High String Band
If music were the sky and it’s players the stars, then it’s not surprising that one would find the constellations more than a little jealous at the grouping of artists attracted to the hard-driving yet subtle acoustic excellence offered up by the members of Austin’s Two High String Band. This acoustic excellence has drawn the likes of David Grisman, Vassar Clements, Tony Trischka, Peter Rowan, Tony Rice, Yonder Mountain String Band and many others to record and/or perform with members of Two High String Band; individually and as a group.
Head For The Hills
Rooted in the tradition of bluegrass, the music of Head for the Hills is a high-energy mixture of homegrown compositions, traditional harmonies, and an innovative approach to improvisation that reflects the band's experiences living the mountain life. The group's lyrical nature and songwriting seems to evoke a feeling of inspiration in listeners, often embracing nature, personal epiphanies, or even their experiences growing up around Colorado ski towns. In the live setting, Head for the Hills can venture into a myriad of musical styles while staying in a context that is still widely respected by the traditional bluegrass community.
Wasabi
Wasabi's infectious blend of ass kickin' Rock 'n' Roll, Psychadelic Blues, and irresistible Dance beats, coupled with incredibly strong song writing and powerful harmonies, are the perfect cure for today's ailing music scene. Not only do they deliver soul moving lyrics, but their music demands attention as well. Their musical influences include the rock and blues sounds of Led Zeppelin, The Black Crowes, Pearl Jam and Traffic, interwoven with a wholly original dance sensibility, and a touch of improvisational spirit to top it all off. Wasabi has quickly become THE Rock and Roll band to see in Colorado.
