  • Bio

..Somebody Put Something In My Drink...... .. .. .. .. .. .. .... The Hormones are an all girl tribute to legendary rock and roll hall of famers’, the Ramones. Emulating the power, turbulence, rebellion and humor of Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee and Tommy, these hard hitting, ass kicking ladies burn through over twenty songs in under forty-five minutes! Charged with infectious energy, the Hormones deliver a true Ramones experience with curves! Cast of Characters: (Joey) Ronda Najera, (Johnny) Margaret Scranton, (Dee Dee) Joy Price, (Tommy) Lisa Burke, (Zippy) Karey Morengo .... ...... Ronda: Lead Vocals .... Ronda started her career in 1977 as co-founder of the well established SF Bay Area's "Art and Ronda's Jam Night", which is still very popular. This enticed her to learn everything from show tunes to punk. She's produced many shows of all kinds playing concerts, clubs, corporite functions and festivals. She's performed with many "special guests" and bands. Her favorite was singing "Don't touch me there" with the Tubes. She's had many titles such as Vocalist, MC, DJ, Songwriter, Dancer, Actress and she does Impersonations too! She's had the honor of studying voice with the world renown Judy Davis for 7 years while developing a range from the lowest note of Joey Ramone to the highest of Robert Plant. Flamboyant and fun she connects with the audience and rocks those cretins! Hey Ho! Let's go! ...... Lisa: Drums .... Lisa has played drums and sang with The Hormones from its inception. She brings various musical talents having performed in many local bands and recording projects over the past 20 years. She is an accomplished singer/songwriter born and raised in the San Francisco bay area. She started playing out with the cover band Rapture then joined an all girl contemporary group called The Mystery Girls where she played bass and sang. She continues to write and sing for her original band Luvhed. (http://myspace.com/luvhed). Ronda (a.k.a. Joey Ramone) encouraged Lisa to play drums at jam night then asked her to join The Hormones. Though she has only played for two years, she hits them hard and fast with the power and stamina needed to pay tribute to the world famous Ramones.....Check out her other band, LUVHED, at www.myspace.com/luvhed... ...... Joy: Bass .... Joy is obsessed with playing bass. She was introduced to music with piano at the age of 5 . Starting bass 3 months before the Hormones inception, giving it all she's got, she has now mastered Dee Dee's unique "down stroke" technique. She now has a bass collection, she says, " my favorite is the Shadowsky Jazz." She taught piano through her college years also playing in many bands, projects and sessions. With her quick abillity and extensive old school music background she has molded perfectly into her endeared Dee Dee Ramone. 1-2-3-4!...... Margo: Guitar .... Margo found her calling in 1982 after seeing Van Halen in concert at the Cow Palace. Later the Great Randy Rhoads and many others inspired her as she became the guitarist / songwriter she is today, as you can see in her original band Scranton at www.myspace.com/margaretscranton . She loves to teach kids guitar for "Band Works" with the "school of rock" classes as well as teaching her own students daily. Here are some recent quotes about Margo from Guitar Player Magizine's Mike Molenda said "she has a delightfully snotty tone, she digs into a riff until it's dancing in your brain". Michael Mercer of Bands of the bay said, "her energy was as magnetic and engaging as any multiplatinum artist could muster". Gabba Gabba Hey! ...... .... Karey Marengo - Stage Manager .... Karey comes to us with great credentials as known by Ronda (who has known Karey for years). Karey gladly accepted taking on the responsibilities that come along with this challenge. She started with Bill Graham Presents in 1980 and worked her way up to Head Supervisor of Security. She also was on call office assistant with BGP in departments such as Booking, Production, Club Division, Management, Administration and Advertising. In 1986-92 she toured with the Grateful Dead Security. She worked at the Warfield in San Francisco as Security for plays such as “The Lesser God” & “Little Shop of Horrors”. 2000-2005 found her working at the Shoreline Amphitheater with Operations / Stage crew. She's very mechanically inclined (don't be surprised to find her assembling the rink skating with the Bay Area Roller Derby). Karey is full of surprises you PINHEADS! .... .... Vickie Richie - Sound Engineer .... Vickie just might be the Ramones biggest fan. She has never missed a Ramones show including ALL the "FAREWELL TOURS". She decided to take up electronics in college after paying $60.00 to have a fuse replaced. In 1979 she and her brother opened "Pearls Place" an "8 track" recording studio as owner/operator working with some of the highly rated musicians from the Bay Area including sessions with Sly Stone, Phil Kenamore (of Y&T) and Art & Ronda. In 1983 she headed for Los Angeles, mixing sound for 5 years and over 5,000 bands as head Sound Engineer at the Music Machine in West Los Angeles and substituting in Hollywood clubs such as Madame Wong's & Club Lingerie. She then moved onto Nashville and did sound at the world famous Bluebird Cafe. She now works in the computer industry here in the Bay Area (If you ask her Mom, she invented the iPhone;-) Now that Vickie is here with The Hormones "We're One Big Happy Family"! ...... ...... SPECIAL THANKS TO: .... Our Husbands and boyfriends for putting up with The Hormones.. Eddie Decosta : Sound Engineer.. Rick Giron : His high hats, Myspace site edits.. Rich Carlson: Photos.. Shane Christakis: Technical Advice.. AND.....Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, The RAMONES.... Without them we wouldn't be having all this fun! ......
