We are two astrophysics graduate students at UW who like to jam and decided to start playing together just for fun. We started getting together to jam around September 2008 and continue to do so when we can find time. It has been sort of an experiment trying to meld together Rana's traditional Indian style with Mike's folk/jam style. Mike's influences are musicians and groups like The Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, The String Cheese Incident, and the Yonder Mountain String Band, while Rana is a classically trained sitar player. The fun part has been fusing the two styles and most of what we play is purely improvised as we go. When we started neither one of us knew much about the other one's style of music, but from the first session we had we felt like something clicked between our two very different styles. Enjoy.
