Rancorous was formed by Yai (vocal),Aree (drummer) and Chot (bass) back in 2001. Then, Pop (guitar) was invited by Yai to the band. Trend of the band is Melodic Death Metal which has a composition of Neo-Classic in it.
After the first concert,Satan Spawned Fest (that was organised by Yai) they got very good feed back from the fans and they started to performed in a lot of concerts and gigs in Thailand.
Until in 2002,they was invited to be a support band for Sodom. And in that year Pop won The Overdrive Guitar Contest 2002.
In 2003,Chot decided to leave the band,they had to find new bass player and they found Santi. Rancorous started to practice like hell and they was invited again to be a support band for Doro and they has been voted to be a support band for Children of Bodom,too (but finally C.O.B. concert was canceled).
In early 2004,they were successful enough to offspring their first album ; A Battle of Wills, a concept album,dealed with I Scream Music. Because of responsible problems, Aree had to leave the band. So, Yai invited Toshi to the band and started to practice again.
In 2005,Rancorous released the second album called In The Circle of Throne. With the sound that more aggressive and powerful than the first album, Rancorous was interested by magazines websites and even radio station both in Thailand and other countries.
In 2006, Santi has to go working abroad but Rancorous is keep on making a new song.
In 2007, Rancorous has just released their 3rd full length album called
"Infernal Coldness".
In 2008, The New stronger line-up is completed.
