BY THE BACK DOOR
In this story of intrigue a young man goes to meet his lover. In secret they will meet and go away together. The lyrics reveal a tale of a tragic triangle, that lures our hero unwittingly to a rendezvous with a mystery figure veiled in darkness. The young man waits for his lover and wonders why she takes so long. The guitar whispers a warning with it's meandering blues fabric. It foreshadows a dark and ominous outcome for the young lovers' encounter.
YOU WERE WRONG
This story was inspired by a film clip of some U.S. Soldiers stationed somewhere in eastern Iraq close to the Iranian border. They were commenting on their conditions and speaking honestly about their feelings. One soldier mentioned they had been there for several tours of duty, and were stuck, with no replacements in sight. They were disillusioned, tired and discouraged. They expressed how they were eager to be sent home.
A powerful indictment, outlined by the lyrics, makes a statement that condemns the judgment of a failed military action, yet celebrates the sacred bond of brothers and sisters in arms. Their plea beacons to the powers that command, to admit they were wrong. End the madness! Send us home!
CAPTAIN'S SONG
The drive of the relentless rhythm in this piece increases the urgency and the feeling of being on the treadmill of time. Stand alone with the weathered sea captain as he realizes his ship, with a hold full of refugees, is foundering. The lead guitar, with it's lamenting wail, echoes across the tragic scene. The presence of hope, and a prayer for relief, are realized in the heroic lyric and compassionate plea of a tough seasoned sea captain.
NEVER WALK THE ROAD ALONE
The haunting call of double leads, that weave throughout this piece,
set the stage for the human drama of loneliness. Plaintive vocals tell a story of loved ones lost, stolen dreams, despair and broken hearts. All of these emotions are part of the realities of the drama.
In truth, the hope spawned by the promise, that love springs eternal,
is the power that comes through this dynamic message. The driving rhythms and lyrics are an affirmation that we are never alone in the quest for connection and inner peace.
