Randall Scott Peterson is one of the rare breed of musical artists who can take a guitar solo and with that can construct an entire city of virtuosic metal.
Born and raised in Milledgville, GA, Randall became fascinated with music at the early age of 12. After his grandad gave him his first guitar (1/4 scale acoustic), his thirst for musical knowledge became insatiable. Randall taught himself how to read music very rapidly—in fact, so quickly that he knew music would never again leave his side— with “Ode To Joy”, being his first song he ever learned along with the help of “Hal Leonard’s Guitar Method Book 1”, Black Sabbath’s: “We Sold Our Soul For Rock N’ Roll”, Carcassi’s: “25 Studies”, and Sor’s: “20 Studios”, Randall was on his way to becoming a master of his craft.
While attending Baldwin County High School, Randall took active part playing guitar and saxophone in their jazz ,concert and marching bands—although he invested most of his time into getting in trouble with his neighbors back home and participating in long, loud and colorful jam sessions with his brother Shawn on drums and his sister Sherry on bass.
After high school he enrolled in Georgia College where he avidly studied and played classical guitar on very little sleep. During all of this, he spent countless hours fabricating his own creative musical works, dedicating his heart and soul. Intuitively, Randall knew Georgia College was not his calling and embarked on his journey to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Although his passion is guitar, he became infatuated with music production and engineering, and in the summer of 2009 he will graduate with his bachelor’s degree in this field of music.
Randall Scott Peterson’s music falls right in line with Progressive Rock and Metal, using ambient soundscapes, musical interludes, exaggerated dynamics, and classical influences. His guitar work is similar to “six-string wizards” like: Steve Vai and Joe Satriani.
With songs like:”Nastalgic Dream”, and “Behind”(featuring vocals by Michelle Meeks), Randall proves his brilliance in musical gymnastics, and extended instrumental passages, fusing together synth and blazing guitar solos. Other influences include: Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath and Bach.
Along with his solo work, Randall also plays guitar for singer/songwriter, Melanie Driscoll who resides in the Boston area as well.
