.. Formed by The Stick, during the boring Fall and Winter of 1999 after Pygmy Sting and the Good Old Boys broke up, Random Mass was a completely improvised live act performed by three high school students that were neighbors and had nothing better to do. They were all friends, they had no talent, they relied on a keyboard to keep rhythm, but still, drunken fat people would wear white t-shirts with Random Mass scribbled in Sharpie at the shows... .. Every week was a new 2 hour set of chaos. They'd break for pool or the X-Men arcade, they might play a classic, but all and all, you could always expect something new... .. The very Fall that they started, they were recording. Mostly camcorder footage, some tape deck, some direct to computer, and some just in their head. They were compiling for an album, "taking stage in '99" which never saw completion or release... .. At the beginning of 2001, they grabbed some cheap recording gear and dropped 6 tracks without thinking. The results were every bit as chaotic as their previous material, except they had done something new. Sucked a little bit less... .. Maybe someday, we will see a Random Mass reunion show. I live for that day. -
