“Random Soul” is the brainchild of 2 of Australia’s biggest house DJ’s/Producers, Yogi & Husky. With elements of soul, jazz and funk, the guys bring an underground, yet accessible flavour to their productions and remixes, while incorporating live vocals and keyboards into their performances and keeping their play lists eclectic.
The duo was formed in the summer of 2005, and since then their music has been snapped up all over the world, with original releases featured on some of the worlds leading underground house labels including Salted Music (Miguel Migs’ Label), Shifted Music (Jay-J’s Label), Celebrity Records, Onethirty Recordings, Barcoda Recordings UK and 815 recordings.
The quality of this music is evident as their debut release for Salted reached 1 on traxsource.com (one of the worlds leading house music download sites) in February of 2008. The duo’s releases and remixes are regularly found in the worlds leading DJ/producer’s charts and on some of the worlds leading CD compilations, proving again that their sound is unique and respected.
Yogi & Husky’s impressive collection of original music continues to come to the attention of many other labels and artists, which has seen them assemble remixes for some of the worlds biggest and highly regarded labels including Salted Music (SF), Hermosa Recordings (LA), Onethirty Records (MN), Kolour Recordings, Shifted Music (NYC), 815 recordings (SF), Celebrity Records (MN), Hussle Australia (M.O.S.) & White Lotus Club (Germany).
They have also shown their diversity by collaborating with a number of the world’s leading house music artists from across the globe, including Jay-J, Vincent Kwok and Silky (Seminal Grooves UK) These collaborations have resulted in more releases for the duo and help to show their versatility as musicians and producers.
In January of 2008, Random Soul was asked to mix and compile their first CD compilation, Hed Kandi’s “Beach House”, for Ministry of Sound Australia. The CD was received with fantastic reviews and proved to Australia and the rest of the world that the Random Soul boys are at the forefront of Australian house music. As a result, Yogi & Husky are often booked to play around Australia, visiting Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra regularly.
Internationally, their fan base is constantly growing, having completed successful tours to the USA, playing at the world renowned Winter Music Conference in Miami and going on to tour all over America at clubbing institutions such as Balance (LA), Pink (SF), First Avenue (Minneapolis), Tokio (LA) and Le Souk (NYC).
Regularly getting airplay on International and Local radio has also shown that their music, being eclectic and not only for the dancefloor, has reached many people, and is appreciated in many surroundings.
Individually they are promising as DJ/Producers, but together, they set their sights to bringing back that one-of-a-kind and sorely missed clubbing and musical experience.
The sky is the limit for Random Soul, with the right blend of skills, ambition and musicality; they are only growing more successful, here in Australia and around the globe.
