I definitely know I'm not the best, but I'm pouring my heart and soul into every one of these songs. Writing music brings out feelings in me I couldn't even begin to describe to you. When I have a finished product, whether it sounds good or not, it's me:
It was an adventure to just chill with these amazing people. You learn so much from just hanging out with them, stuff that you mostly can only learn from experience. hah. But yeah, it was incredibly fun. I highly recommend sneaking anywhere you gotta sneak (backstage, to the bus, etcetc) just to say hey. It's an amazing experience.
I love it when bands are like that. Like I went to see Emery and The Almost back in like May, and I talked to Aaron Gillespie (who I'm in love with, for future reference). And he was so chill, he just talked to me like he wasn't some widely known star talking to a fan. It was really awesome. And me and my buddy played air hockey with Last Year Portrait before a show of theirs once. They took us to Waffle House afterwards. :-D
mmm. I love me some AS I LAY and I love me some Norma Jean. :-) I met Norma Jean a while back at the loft. They're amazing. The Bled is really good too. I don't listen to them enough to count myself as a fan, but I think they're really good. :-) Anberlin's my current favorite. They're the perfect mix for me. :-)
Oh. I forgot Secondhand Serenade, The Almost, and Anchor and Braille. And I listen to a little bit of Maylene, but they're really hard for me to get into.
UnderOATH Burden of a Day Anberlin Paramore Pierce The Veil mewithoutyou Brand New Haste The Day Once A Captive John McLaughlin Jeremy Camp Reel Big Fish Save Ferris Relient K The Wedding The Devil Wears Prada
EMERY!! Between the Buried and Me The Chariot (we don't listen to Chiodos, naturally) Motley Crue (haha YAH!) Bowling for Soup Aerosmith (who doesn't listen to them!?) Rage Against the Machine Rise Against Asteria Valencia Lydia Modest Mouse etcetc.
And then I'm a broadway freak as well. These are the ones I can quote lyric for lyric:
Phantom of the Opera Les Miserables Into The Woods Avenue Q Rent Wicked Lestat Cats (ahaha) etcetc.
Well thank you! :-) I definitely have changed a lot since high school. Mostly grown up, you know. But it's neat that you think I'm cool. I definitely WASN'T that way in high school. :-)
Hha. Don't pass that block on. I just got out of mine. :-) Yeah I used to go to high school with you. You had that Beauty and the Beast shirt and I was like "Ah, dude, I wanna talk to him. I'm sure we have a LOT in common." But I was kind of reserved in high school. Mostly kept to myself. :-) that's probably where you remember me from.
Excellent! Like I said that's what's mostly holding us back: the dreaded writing phase. I'm one of those where I want my lyrics and music to matter so much that I'll write and rewrite and rewrite. That takes a while. :-) But ya we should see each other at that show. I'm working it as a staff member, but I would be going to it even if I weren't working. :-) Can't wait to see you!
Haha yeah. I'm really excited. :-) But I'm also super nervous. Like, you don't just go from the garage to Atlanta. It just isn't done. So I told the venues to check back in with me at the start of 2009, when we have some experience. Haha. Safehouse? I love that place. And Eagle's Way? That place is amazing. I'd love to hear you live. Are you going to be at the 15th show at Eagle's Way?
Yeah it seems that the channel we're trying to get into is really understanding of where we're coming from. People have been really receptive so far. And you know, for only being about a month and a half old, we're doing really well. We already have some venues trying to line us up in Atlanta (They listened to our tapes) but we don't have a big enough set for those venues yet. But everyone who's listened to us has really liked us, so maybe we got something special. :-)
I know. :-/ We've run into a few problems where recording is concerned. And for a while there we were also having problems with writing. We have enough songs for an EP but not enough for a set. :-/ But now we're getting out of our writers' blocks. :-) We should have tracks up very very soon. And I have rough recordings of us on tape. ahha. but nothing digital yet. :-) But anyway. Thanks for adding us! It means a lot.
