My name is Randy Dowling. I'm a dreamer. I believe dreams are small visions of who we should be. I wish I could be a lot of things. I'm only 22 years old, so I've still got a lot of life ahead of me. Anyways, I tend to be sarcastic. If you grew up with me, you might think my name is "smart ass" because that's probably what my mom called me the most. I'd like to think I'm funny, but I have an odd sense of humor. Most people say I'm fun and outgoing. Apparently, I'm easy to talk to, because everyone I have ever meet tells me their life story. Don't get me wrong though, that's probably because I brought it on. You see, I love people. I love it when people tell me about their life. I love to hear people's dreams and aspirations. That's just one thing that makes me feel alive.
I'm in love with a red headed girl named Grace. She's my everything and I cannot imagine life without her anymore. She's my beautiful angel and she knows she's got me in wrapped around her finger. I'd go to the end of the world for her. I love her.
Jesus is my savior. I believe that people try to box God up far too often. The concept of God is hard for us to even accept. I recommend reading the bible, because you won't get it all and the more you read it the more you don't get it. Do you get me? It just helps you realize that you're not the center of the universe. I know. Believe me, that's apparently a hard concept for me to grasp... I'm always open to talk about God, so feel free to message me. I'm not your stereotypical bible-beater. I'm always looking for the truth and I'm not afraid to challenge the norm to find it. What good is faith without doubt? How do you know truth if you never question it?
I feel like I'm a square peg trying to find my place in a world full of circle-shaped holes. I want to be a firefighter. I'm planning on getting an associates degree in information technology while firefighting. Life never goes the way you want it to. I always say that you can't be a victim of life, you've got to make life a victim of you. I want to write a book at some point in my life. I love to write. You can probably tell that from my excessively long About me, either that or you think I'm self-absorbed. Feel free to message me if you think there is anything else I haven't covered... :)
"This is your life, and it's ending one minute at a time." -Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club, Chapter 3
"Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he can and should be, and he will become as he can and should be."
-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that! " -Rocky Balboa
"I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; I will not refuse to do something I can do." -Helen Keller
"Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em." -William Shakespeare
"What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say." -Ralph Waldo Emerson
"A man who is good for anything ought not to calculate the chance of living or dying; he ought to consider in doing anything he is doing right or wrong-- acting the part of a good man or of a bad." -Socrates
"In the name of the best within you, do not sacrifice this world to those who are its worst. In the name of the values that keep you alive, do not let your vision of man be distorted by the ugly, the cowardly, the mindless in those who have never achieved his title. Do not lose your knowledge that man's proper estate is an upright posture, an intransigent mind and a step that travels unlimited roads. Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it's yours."
-Ayn Rand (Russian born American Writer and Novelist, 1905-1982)
"Life is never easy for those who dream."
-Robert James Waller
