As a full-time private educator and performing musician in the Atlanta area, I am currently the jazz saxophone instructor at Emory University. While I make no claims of greatness as a performing musician, I do strive for excellence and play well. You can listen to my audio clips, which by the way, are primarily excerpts from my educational series of jazz method books, and make your own judgments.
I do consider myself, however, to be a very good educator. Since I've devoted many years of my life to private teaching (50-70 students weekly since 1985), I thought I could begin making my contribution to jazz education at large by writing a series of jazz etude books. Thus, in 2001, came the inception of "Complete Jazz Styles, Introductory Etudes in Jazz Conception."
After a reasonable amount of success with this first book, including endorsements from folks like Randy Brecker, Joe Lovano, Bobby Shew, Mark Colby, John Fedchock, and many more, I had to continue writing. Next came "Complete Jazz Styles" Duet and Etude 2 Books, and "Set the Stage; Jazz Combo/Small Group Arrangements and Instruction."
At this time, I would also like to announce the release of my newest book, "Level Three: Jazz Etudes for Saxophone." This book is off to a great start with endorsements from musicians like Jerry Bergonzi and Chris Vadala. "Sax on the Web" also recently reviewed the book, giving it excellent marks. You can check out some excerpts in my MySpace music player, and also at www.randyhunterjazz.com.
If you have a chance and would like to check out some free MP3 and PDF downloads from any or all of my books, please visit my main web site at: www.randyhunterjazz.com.
A jazz teacher locater page is available through a link from the randyhunterjazz.com home page. This is a free service, so please feel free to register if you are a teacher or browse if you are a student...no obligation. A "Free Stuff" page is also located at my site with etudes, duets, improv lessons, transcriptions, manuscript paper, and more.
Please note that I am available as a freelance musician in the Atlanta area. If you are looking for a band for a private event or club engagement, drop me a note. I work with several different bands and can likely provide just what you want.

MINNEAPOLIS – The $1.92 million verdict against a Minnesota woman accused of sharing 24 songs over the Internet could ratchet up the pressure on other defendants to settle with the recording industry if the big fine can withstand an appeal. In the latest trial, a federal jury in Minneapolis ruled that she must pay $1.92 million for willful infringement of the recording industry's copyrights by posting the music on the file-sharing site Kazaa. Under federal law, the recording companies are entitled to $750 to $30,000 per infringement but the law allows the jury to raise that to as much as $150,000 per track if it finds the infringements were willful. The jury decided on $80,000 per song.
This is so messed up.. but nothing surprises me anymore.. The lady that they are trying to get almost $2 million dollars from is a single mother of 4! So my friends in honor of the recording industry I would like to give you the gift of new music.. Feel free to DOWNLOAD the songs FOR FREE on my page... don’t worry.. I won’t sue you ;) <img .."visibility:hidden;width:0px;height:0px;" border=0 width=0 height=0 src="
Thanks for visiting my site Randy! I just entered in a contest to win a record deal with Myspace Records. Can you support me by adding my song widget to your profile and spread the word to your friends about me by forwarding this message? The song will not play automatically so it won’t mess up the music already on your profile. I'd really, really appreciate your help. :)
