Influences
Solomon Burke, Otis Redding, Gene Allison, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Bert Russell Berns, Jerry Ragovoy, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Keith Richard, Jim Martin, Jeff Dagenhardt, Floyd Jester. Ben Dewey. And, of course, The Shaggs!
NOTE: "I am Mateo" was written and performed by my 6-year-old grandson and will be on his forthcoming album "Improvisations & Other Songs from my Head."
Randy Martin is a lead singer and guitar player with Gorilla Danish.
He began playing guitar in 1959. In 2003 he was diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and could no longer play bar chords.
Rather than quit, he created an open tuning in the key of B. This unusual tuning and key matched his baritone voice.
Since 2004, he has been performing as a solo act (Randy Martin: The Lost Classics) perfecting his melody-finger slide finger-picking style and creating arrangements of somewhat forgotten R&B and R&R tunes from the 60s into an interesting presentation made further engaging by the information he delivers about the song writers between tunes.
Musicians and non-musicians alike are attracted to his unusual stylings.
He plays frequently in his home base of Cleveland and also in Chicago and Milwaukee.

Heya homeslice, we're gonna be sending a 3-song demo to small labels, and we REALLY need help deciding which of 3 of our 5 songs to send. Seriously, your input is wanted! XO Wayne
It's a maple Guild jumbo on the floor. It doesn't say Guild though. There is a sticker over it that says "Billy". I was thinking of putting my name on some of my guitars too.
