JODY studied guitar with Pebber Brown and Grammy winner Wayne Johnson in Los Angeles. She studied koto with Dai Shihan (Grandmaster) Miyata Mutsuko in Miyazaki, Japan, and with Dr. Bernice Kisako Hirai (Shihan or Master) in Honolulu.
KIMO studied guitar with Pebber Brown in Los Angeles; classical Indian vocal and sitar with Sri Ram Achriya in Nepal; and the art of making and playing Hawaiian bamboo instruments with Kumu Hula Lanakila Brandt in Kealakekua, Hawaii.
Take an eclectic musical journey around the world with Kimo & Jody of the world fusion group Ranga Pae: be refreshed by the Japanese koto with its reminiscent sound of waterfalls and the haunting melodies of bamboo flutes from Hawaii and Indonesia, the exotic flavor of India with the sitar and the heartbeat of Bali through the bamboo tingklik. There's even something familiar waiting in the background of this musical oasis as you're likely to catch a re-imagined classic rock tune, a hip hop hit with an ethnic twist, a jazz standard, a world traditional piece, or an original Ranga Pae composition.
Ranga Pae (Encircling the Earth in Maori) was formed in 1995 by the husband and wife team of Kimo and Jody Huybrechts. Residing on the island of Maui, Hawaii, Kimo & Jody perform regularly at some of Maui’s finest venues. From 2001 through 2008 they appeared nightly at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua's award-winning signature restaurant The Banyan Tree. They were commissioned by the Tau Dance Theater for a performance of Sakura arranged for koto and sitar. Ranga Pae has released three albums: Waihua (2009), Full Circle (2004), and Like Rain (1997).

Strange day. After watching a documentary about streakers suffering from over exposure, I took a nap. It was a short one. I woke up a midget. At first I was freaking out, jumping around, trying to reach the wall phone. It tired me out. So I sat on a foot stool and placed my face in my hands wondering why this had happened to me. In the middle of self-pitying I started noticing how much fun it was to kick and swing my feet. I was smiling again, and found myself running through the house at full speed... wrestling with my now giant puppy. Oh, the joy! I hadn't had so much fun in years! We laughed and played and laughed until we both fell asleep exhausted on the living room floor. Then I woke up and ruined the whole damned thing.

hey guys, sorry for the late reply. I used to have a friend that lived in Kaneohe, but I think he's gone to a college in Redmond by now. I'm more of a snowboarder, but I've always wanted to give surfing a try. Perhaps I'll go south and check out the scene someday.
