    Out of the Norwegian Woods comes RANHEIM. A 3-piece consisting of Admiral von Ranheim, Don Ranheim and Kaptein Ranheim, all born and bred at Ranheim, a community on the eastern part of Trondheim (Norways largest city). .. .. Beeing fed hard rock for breakfast, hardcore for lunch and a slightly more experimental postpunk avantgarde soup for dinner, Ranheim soon developed their own menu consisting of these ingredients mixed with some hot, alternative and unpredictable spices (mainly peppersauce, battleships, dinosaurs and petroleum as I understand from the Admiral). .. .. Their first EP 'KRAFT', recorded in a Garage at Ranheim and later to be released on Evil Music Int., showed that they eaten and digested their food well and now had enough energy to power a large city. The EP also included a version 'She Said' by one of the band's earliest influences, SCRATH ACID. .. .. 'KRAFT' was also a tribute to Ranheim's cornerstone factory, a papermill named Ranheim Papirfabrikk. The factory (commonly known as RANHEIM KRAFT) was build in 1884 and built and shaped the society of Ranheim for the next century. Both Don and the Admiral sacrificed their best years working in the factory. .. .. In October 2005 the band travelled to Oslo (Norway's second largest city and home of the king and his royal family) and recorded a number of songs in Caliban Studio. The songs were later mixed by JOHN FRYER in his studio in London. Fryer had seen the band live and offered to mix their record as he believed he could make a difference. And he did, giving the mix a crisp, clear and sharp edge. The songs ended up as the debut album 'ROCK & SCIENCE' (released on Evil Music Int. in 2006). .. .. In 2008 Ranheim toured Switzerland, the UK and in the US where they in April recorded an album and an EP with STEVE ALBINI at his studio Electrical Audio in Chicago. The 7" EP was entitled 'I DON'T LIKE THE SMITHS' and brought some tension between Ranheim and fans of the jolly Mancuians although Norwegian tabloid DAGBLADET labeled it as 'hard, clever, serious and funny at the same time'. Yepp, that's true. And Keith is a pirate. True as well. .. .. Less controversy then with the album 'NORWEGIAN WOOD'. The large Albini sound suits the band perfectly and adds an extra dimension to the songs. All songs are recorded live, even some with vocals beeing done live as well. Kaptein Ranheim now consideres the album to be a modern rockclassic and who am I to argue. .. .. Evil Music Int. will also release an extended version with 5 bonustracks from the same session in their classic album series. Every home should own at least one of them.
