I work at Devils Ink in Melburn, i dont like to be like everyone else, i like to tattoo im my own style. I do mainly custom work and am very fortunate to have a loyal client base that loves what i do. My style has been referred to as Brut Art, i like to call it Abstract Noir, and besides a few artists in europe and one in Canada i dont know of anyone else presently doing it. I am influenced by a lot of comic art, film and music. I enjoy a clean but raw feel to my tattoos, and think less is more. I have been drawing in this style since i was a little kid, and was told when i started tattooing that people would not like it or want it. My large client list may disagree.....
I also do a bit of traditional inspired work, this is an area that is very popular world wide with some brilliant work coming from all corners of the world, i try and add my own flavour to all i do but tip my hat to those like Uncle Allan and D Noble.
Its about solid & strong outlines, Heavy black for contrast, solid fields of colour and the use of skin as highlights.
I have my own clothing/ kiteboard label El Monster Loco, i also have a skate label starting soon with a good mate..more news soon.

My Abstract Noir has been referred to as Brut Art. ("Raw Art" or "Rough Art" in French) is a label created by French painter Jean Dubuffet to describe art created outside the boundaries of official culture. Dubuffet focused particularly on the art of the insane. The English term "Outsider Art", which is synonym for the Art Brut, is often applied more broadly, to include certain works of non-professional artists, who intentionally or not had created original art uninfluenced by the canon.
It is raw and childlike, and primal. If you want a piece like this be assured no two are the same and it will be designed for you.
Kawaii Noir is the cute but sinister cousin, this is usually cleaner and more stylalized, think bears with knives, or a koala zombie.

You could say that! I quit Satisfaction Art Tattoo a few weeks ago... So im packing my stuff and heading back to Adelaide (where my family is) for a bit while i decide where I wanna go next... Might just put my shit is storage and spend a few months travelling and working... Who knows... How u going?
