Ransom, formerly Kings Ransom, formed over 25 years ago. In the early days the band was well known on the folk circuit and played at many festivals around the UK. A notable work the Band were involved with, told the legend and characters of Alderley Edge in words and music, which featured in two, one hour specials, on BBC Radio Manchester.
As a result of a number of personnel changes and varied influences, the Band dropped the Kings, and widened its musical genre to include Country, Rock and Blues. Ransom is now well known for its high energy performances, quality of harmony and ability to evoke mood, through excellent musical interpretation.
The Band has a wealth of experience and can tailor sets to suit the occasion, having played at countless weddings, birthday parties, formal concerts and events - even Styal Women's Prison! Ransom can be seen regularly on the first Tuesday of every month at 8.30 (except August)at Didsbury Cricket Club, an open mic night they have run for 22 years (free admission).
The Band all have full time jobs and play music for the love of it. As a result, you can book Ransom for your bespoke event, far cheaper than you may expect, for a band of this quality.
