This is a musical side project for a rotating group of elementary school children that I work with. This is probably the best thing you'll ever hear. Just to clarify, I am not an elementary school teacher. I actually teach high school. This project comes out of a "typical" daycare program. Every month we do different clubs, and the Rapper's Delight Club is just one club that I do every year.
I just uploaded our newest jam, "When We Were Kids"...but the kids got so into writing their own raps this year that we had an extremely EXTENDED jam..so we broke it into two tracks -- hence the "When We Were Kids (version 2)"....we'd like to thank Jens Lekman and Ahmad for writing sweet songs that we stole from...
2009 UPDATE: We've just finished a new track, "I Don't Wanna Grow Up...Yet", that uses Tom Waits' "I Don't Wanna Grow Up" as the basis for a siiiiick jam about wanting to stay young forever. We'd like to thank the following bands for providing amazing music that we stole: Ponytail (from MARYLAND), No Age, Mi Ami, Dirty Projectors, and Yo La Tengo. Also, Joe Mitra from Developing Nations Studio in Baltimore, MD really went above and beyond with this track's production. If you're looking to do any recording, contact that man.
the next generation is what its all about. its nice to know that hip-hop isnt a waste of our generations time. we worked really hard on it. some of us.
So amazing man! Your project is really great, I live in France, play music, sing(as I can),organize a music festival(www.musiques-ici-ailleurs.com) and work with different groups or graff artist. One part of our project with the festival is to propose to hundred young people to discover our work, the different music we program. They are paid for their work(they really help us)and it's necessary because they live on the street or they leave school. Music is the solution! My son listen your tracks too and he's really crazy about it! Respect! Iris
