Raptor Guitars is owned and operated by George Contreras, an 18 year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department. It was during some down time on one of his shifts, sitting in the parking lot that his store now uses, that the first thoughts and plans for Raptor Guitars took place. While envisioning his future dream, he picked the ultimate location at 7227 S. Central Ave in Phoenix. There was simply no other full service music store servicing the South Phoenix/Laveen area community.
George quit the department and followed the calling of another passion to serve the community – music! Opening in July of 2007, Raptor Guitars made an immediate impact in the community by reducing the drive local residents used to drive to satisfy their music needs. Bringing a higher and much needed level of customer service than that of rival chain stores, Raptor Guitars prides itself on the smiles of its satisfied customers.
Raptor Guitars has embraced the local community and its diverse musicians by putting on two concert extravaganzas a year. The Anniversary Bash celebrates the store’s existence, and the Halloween Bash touts a safe environment for the little ones by featuring a petting zoo, a haunted house, local businesses handing out treats, etc. Both events feature only local bands and have become huge spectacles, routinely drawing the attention and coverage of major media outlets (3TV, FOX10, etc) as well as international press (All Access Magazine, Rock Thiz Magazine etc).
But the store doesn’t stop there. No other valley music store brings you as many critically acclaimed and Grammy winning/nominated artists in just to meet you! Guests that have included Bruce Kulick (KISS), Mark Kendall (Great White), John Moyer (Disturbed), Dave Ellefson (Megadeth) and Kerry King (Slayer). Watch our calendar for more!

We also rent band equipment, provide lessons for any level, and even have lay-a-way options!
