raquel ROCKWELL started her lyrical career at the tender age of 12. She started out writing poetry, however, it shortly turned into something deeper. After hearing Kris Kross (Jump) and Da Brat (Funkdafied), she figured that she would try her hand at MCing. She realized that once she added rhythm to her poetics, she had come up with a masterpiece and decided to devote most of her time to penning lyrics. In 1997, she hooked up with best friends Ocope (Madd Men Productions) and Wil Gates (repva.com) to form Verbal Masters, a sub-group of KONTRA. Numerous efforts to get to the 'big stage' failed and after deciding that she would rather continue her education, she put her rap career on hold and attended Hampton University where she recieved her Bachelor of Science degree in 200*.
"I had dreams of becoming a Forensic Scientist and I still do, however, my passion lies in making music."
Everpresent was her passion to create music, so she once again divulged her time and efforts into what made her happy. This time she had a plan...that plan was to make history. So in 2004, she reunited with group mate Black Von in order to put her plan in action. When both ROCKWELL and VON agreed that the industry was missing something unique, they decided to form Sevin:Thurdy (7:30), the first male/female rap duo in HISTORY.
"We are currently signed to our own independent label Makin' Movez Records and we hope be a strong force in putting VA on the map."
Since 2004, she has put her hands in almost everything from modeling to writing for The V Magazine....fashion design to being the CEO of her own entertainment company!
"I live for entertainment and being known for the things that I do best! I believe that I am a woman of all trades, so anytime I see an opportunity to do something new, I'm taking it! The only problem is that I'm only one person, but I've almost mastered the art of multitasking which makes it a little easier for me to simultaneously engage in everything I that I love to do!!"
