Rachel Sepulveda sheds a new light of vitality, confidence, and introspection onto jazz. She reflects the human condition with a sensitive and fresh interpretation of songs from both the classic American and Brazilian songbook, while never neglecting to include her own taste for soulful blues and R&B.
Rachel has been a featured vocalist with the Mark Flugge Trio and makes frequent appearances with the Vaughn Wiester Famous Monday Night Jazz Orchestra at the Columbus Music Hall. She has sung on the New York City club scene, but makes her home singing in central Ohio. She has been featured at major festivals such as Columbus’s own Jazz and Ribs Fest, 2007 and Red White and Boom, 2007. In the summer of 2006, Rachel toured European jazz festivals as a featured vocalist at both the Montreux and Umbria Jazz Festivals. She was selected as the featured vocalist for both the 2006/ 2007 Ohio Music Educators Association Jazz Ensembles and in 2005 was awarded outstanding achievement for her performance at the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival.
Ms. Sepulveda holds a Bachelor degree in voice and jazz studies from The Capital University Conservatory of Music and currently has a private studio in Columbus, Ohio where she teaches both voice and music theory.
