    Calcutta sounds like a fable in a song, but in reality, it is where John, my colleague and successor, was murdered. He was on the job for only three days when he got his throat slashed. As an undercover investigator targeting the illegal wildlife trade, especially in tiger parts, his real name was unknown, even to me, nor mine to him. We were just John and James to each other. All I know is that he was Chinese American, while his predecessor James - real name Anthony Marr - is Chinese Canadian, and how sincere he was in helping to save the Bengal tiger from being poached out of existence, while its habitat continues to dwindle due to human pressure...

    Finally...Saturday Night, I decided to go with this theoretical Jesus Christ in the spirit over to the Park Inn on the square to see a woman it has come to me is the theoretical Mary Magdalene, the round nosed woman in the Pieta. I've stopped in there a couple of times for a beer or two and always noticed her sitting there drinking at the bar. I'm doing my Sherlock Holmes again, which I always do. I think her former husband owned the Park and now she does. She dies her hair blonde. I think she is either genetically Hebrew or German. Many Hebrews in Madison. This is supposed to be the new Jerusalem, Madison, Wisconsin. It is likely that she is the real genetic incarnation of Magdalene at the Millennium.
    I took Christ over. The day before, He finally came out front with me out of my dark room. There was apparently a yellow tulip in the spirit, growing out of a spot in the front yard. He was standing on the opposite side and then suddenly he stomped over and plucked it suddenly and I thought he was going to see her. Apparently he did not.
    I walked up to the bar. Magdalene was standing up next to the bar just in the entrance. I think she owns the Park. The bartendress seemed suspicious so I asked her if she could serve me. She said no, that I had been kicked out of there before which was a lie. She cut me off twice, but I just quietly went home. I didn't cause any trouble. Then she implied that if I hadn't asked she would have served me, which was nuts. Apparently if I hadn't been nice and asked she would have served me. Magdalene was nervous and looking at the floor about where Christ's robe would have been. We left. She looked like she knew He was there. Good. I hope at some point He appears for Her.

    It's Halloween, the moon is full and bright. Minions see what can't be seen, on any other night. Skeletons in the closets of Christian ghouls, grinning fundamentalists and freethinkers fighting duels. The ghost of the dark ages is rising from its tomb, bringing relics from the past, intelligence it wants to consume. In white shirts and mountain bikes, Mormons haunt the street. They knock on doors, to trick is their treat. Others claim to be sent by Jehovah, entering unhallowed grounds is their mistake. They run away screaming, dropping their copies of Watchtower and Awake! Many feel threatened that we only need science, logic and reason to appease us. They can't accept our denial of the existence of their Jesus. So on my night, we should show them that they're absurd. Since they believe in ghosts and goblins, make your voice heard. Dress up like a demon, and put on your most evil behavior. Knock on their door, and tell them that you're their savior.

    How a single bullet killed 25 lions



    When I was in Africa a couple of decades ago, I camped for a stretch in the territory of a lion pride comprising 3 males, 10 females and 22 cubs.



    The 3 pride-males, named Agamemnon, Achilles and Hector (AAH), were about 6 years of age and very much in their prime. Their 22 cubs were thriving under their protection - protection against predators,



    and the coalition of four 4-year-old prideless bachelors, who had been loitering in the neighborhood.



    Due to the superior fighting prowess of AAH, they had been kicking the butts of the Gang of Four (GOF), so far. If the GOF drove out or killed AAH, they would kill all their cubs so that the lionesses would have cubs bearing their genes. AAH would be able to repel GOF for another couple of years, which was a fairly stable long term scenario in lion terms. What was unforeseen was that a trophy hunter killed Achilles.



    Now with only Agamemnon and Hector holding the fort, they were no match for the GOF. Valiantly, AH tried to defend their offspring, but it was a matter of fighting to the last cub before they both were killed. The 10 lionesses became the spoils of war. And so, a new leonine dynasty was born. But through it all, 25 lives were lost, all due to one single bullet fired by one egomaniacal trophy hunter. Shame on Safari Club International! And shame on you Mr. President, for support hunting.
