Reading, writing and arithm feminism. Loving my friends.
Music
Depeche Mode, Deftones, Styrofoam, Radiohead and Liz Phair. That's what I thought of. I checked my iTunes for accuracy and shouldn't neglect Ween, Bjork and Michelle Branch. In 2007 I dropped everything to buy Azure Ray, Marvin Gaye, Mucca Pazza, Tegan and Sara, and Snoop Dogg.
Books
These changed my life: The Woman in White, Dracula, The Plague, Frankenstein, Brave New World, 1984, The Malady of Death, No Exit, Madame Bovary, The Great Gatsby, It's All Right Now, The Varieties of Religious Experience, The Second Sex and the Oxford English Dictionary. No books have made me laugh harder than A Confederacy of Dunces, Infinite Jest and Atlas Shrugged. After The Quake is the most beautiful thing I have read. I pick up the AP Stylebook every day.
Be careful when you get hurt. Painkillers can make you do strange things - like compensate for your immobility with a hyperactive myspace profile pic. Try and relax. It's okay to use a little medicine to feel better - and remember, it always goes down smoother with a nice, light Coca Cola.
My friend Adam says, "In 2007, I was briefly hired by the New York based ad agency Endoplasmic Reticulum. This was a quick "proof of concept" I put together for their pitch to GM.
If you come over at the end of august and 'help me move,' I promise I'll leave plenty of water and snacks in the back of the truck, enough to last you all the way to Pittsburgh at least, where we'll pick up some Turner's iced tea for the remaining drive.
I thought that you'd be in some south Texas desert, typing away at the Great American Novel. Instead, you're in MN/SP. I miss Evergreen veggie goodness and the Triple Rock, but not the cold, cold, cold.
