Music has always been a way of life for the Rausch Brothers. "I always remember gathering around the piano to listen and sing along with mom". "She had such a beautiful voice" recalls Tom. The Rausch Brothers have always put stake and claim in their vocal ability. "There's just something about listening to a group that can sing" says Tom.
RBB honed their skills back in the late 60's early 70's in the basement of there parents house. Mom and Dad were entertained on a nightly basis with styles ranging from Funk, Blues, Rock and Country. When it comes to original material all members have a part in the process. Someone will bring and idea to the table and they'll go from there.
RBB has never followed musical trends when it came to what songs to play. What each band member liked to listen to is how they decided what to play. They've always believed that any song played with feeling and passion is a song anyone can listen to.
Although they have no record contracts or cd's available for sale yet, they have hundreds of hours of music recorded from rehearsals over the many years of the bands formation. "One day we're going to sit down and go through those tapes and release something." This is always a topic of discussion by band members every time their together. I've heard that a record is in the making for release sometime around November. Cross your fingers.
The bar scene has always been a favorite gig for the band because it brings out the best in improvisation and spontaneity. It also allows friends and family to get out for the night in a setting that is most comfortable to all. With all members having children and some with grandchildren, they figure with all their kids friends coming out it's a great way to recruit new fans.
With that said, with any show whether it be a wedding, a festival or a corporate gig, the emphasis is always on having a good time when performing. When you're having a good time everybody's having a good time.
Playing for forty plus years has subject them to a lot of crazy circumstances. Tom recalls during the impromptu 20 year Woodstock reunion we were there getting ready to play for about 15 thousand people "I was scared to death, a beer truck showed up behind the stage to start giving away beer, but the cops came and shut that down and sent him home." What a bummer, that would have calmed my nerves"
The group still writes and performs regularly and is looking forward to performing and meeting new fans for a long, long time.
Just wanted to thank the band once again on behalf of the Knights of Columbus Council 550 and the CYOs of St. Thomas Aquinas and Immaculate Conception for playing at our charity chicken barbecue fundraiser this past Saturday at the Town of Thompson Park. It would not have been anywhere near the success it was without you!! The Knights accomplished what we set out to do and that was raise funds for our CYO teens to help them with their charitable contributions throughout the local community! Wish there were some way to show our gratitude other than this small blurb on MySpace!!
Fiddlers Flea Market Needs bands to help promote the 'Help Thy Neighbor' campaign 2009 - support your local "AMERICAN" farmer! July 3rd through 5th!
BANDS - PLEASE - come and help support this by offering your music to share - lunch (hot dogs, hamburgers, chips & drink) in exchange for your services - must have full count by this Sunday so that we can get the shopping done!
As part of a new "Help Thy Neighbor" campaign for 2009 - Beginning July 3rd -Fiddlers Flea Market on route 17B in the town of Bethel offers free vendor spaces in an effort to help promote and suppport our local Sullivan County NY and neighboring Wayne county PA farmers. 10 10x10 spaces on our lot will be made available free of charge for the remainder of the season which ends in October. Vendors must have shelter and set up if so desired. Pop up tents and outdoor tables may be donated and designated strictly for the farmers use. They will be adorned with the words "Support your local farmer". The market is open Sat. - Sun. & Holildays - 9-5 every weekend rain or shine. Naturally, we don't expect the outdoor vendors to be here in the rain - so the farmers market will be weather permitting with no obligation on rainy days. Next year, we will establish an annual membership fee for minimal charge to each vendor of the farmers market. We're thinking along the lines of $200 per vendor for the entire year - would enjoy the feedback and look forward to making this work for you - our local farmers!!
