Imagine a man........ the youngest son of Japanese
Jewish immigrants. Ravelstein is full of jokes, one-liners, and Catskill comedian
gags which capture a distinctly first-generation Japanese Jewish American voice, wit, neuroses, manners, affectations, cultural collisions, and intellectual passions. Ravel is elegant and uproariously fragile/dysfunctional. Tender, risqué, intellectually stimulating, full of brilliant and
often wicked conversation. Ravel encompasses everything from the sublime
to the vaudevillian. Ravelstein, a declared Platonist, believes that the highest purpose
of friendship is the formation of an artistic community of potential Truth seekers who
are also searching for relationship with their souls or true halves. Ravelstein gets his erotic teachings from Aristophanes and Socrates, and his moral vision from the Bible. Therefore, he affirms His KOKORO SOUL to assume responsibility for the fact that he is a Japanese Jew still living in America and to keep on trucking into the increasing storm of his career. Ravelstein songs has been called a biographical harmony, a eulogy, a memoir, a threnody, a roman à clef, the chronicle of Love, a valediction, a Kaddish, a Zen koan, and an autoethnography.
