A good song is a good song man, simple as that!" That's the mercurial and confident, but oh so endearing songwriter and vocalist Rod Black. Black knows his way around a well-written tune. He's recently finished co-writing a slew of them for his brand new band, JET BLACK STARE, and their Island Records debut album, In This Life. Back in early 2007, after becoming frustrated with his past band's creative differences, Rod found the perfect song-writing companion in fellow Vancouver, Canada resident, songwriter/producer Jeff Johnson. "Give us 15 minutes and we can hammer out a song. We have that rare, special chemistry" says Black gloating on Jeff. "We hardly ever bump heads, we're always on the same page." This harmonious partnership not only set the groundwork for what eventually - along with Shane Hayes (bass), Flip (guitar) and Dave Muselman (guitar), and Dan Swinimer (drums) - became Jet Black Stare, but also created the perfect vessel for Rod's storytelling. "I just want to be as a true as I can be to the song, and for me every song has to tell a story."
At the end of the day, for Black, it's about making people feel connected: Whether it's the epic "The River" ("I'm sick of nine to five/I'm sick of living day to day") or the bluesy ballad "Fly" ("When this temptation turns into my only friend/Lookin' for someone to help me start over again"). It's all about finding the common thread in everyday life struggles. For example, "Fly" was born out of Rod befriending and trying to help some young street kids he used to pass every day on the way to his old office day job. Or take the album-closer "Next To Me," about making personal and familial sacrifices for the greater good and being forced to be away from loved ones: Ambiguously, this soulful Heartland-ready number could be about a traveling salesman, an athlete, a soldier away at war, a rock star on the road? any and all of these, it's reach is universal.
But lest we not forget, JET BLACK STARE are rockers! So while they may get everyone's solar plexus wedged wide-open, they certainly don't mind ramming a steel-toed boot in for good measure. Take for example the record's first single "Ready To Roll," a pedal-to-the-metal anthem that will bring you charging down the drag strip. Fittingly, this track, as well as "It's Over" (the catchiest tune ever written about a cheating ex), are both to be featured in the upcoming EA video game NASCAR 2009.
It's a rather ironic turn that JET BLACK STARE's first single, like a few other legendary classics ("Highway Star," "Radar Love," "Born To Be Wild") is a sexually-charged opus to a muscle car: It was just a few year's ago, during a near-fatal car crash, that Rod wound up in the emergency room. But that's nothing considering that his miraculous survival from that accident was just a few days after the day he died. "I died when I was 19. I heard the doctors say it; they pronounced me dead" says Rod still in amazement years later. "I was what is called a 'flat-line patient.' But the next day I woke up! The doctors and nurses were astonished. 4 hours later I walked out of the hospital and went to work!" He talks about it in "I"m Breathing": "And now I'm lookin' for the reasons why I'm alive/And now I've finally come to realize." And what he realized he says he has essentially known since he was 6 growing up in a musical family and wishing to be a performer. "My purpose is to do music" says Rod assuredly "and to reach as many people as I can, and hopefully, bring a positive message."
Now with Jet Black Stare's chrome-plated guitars and fist-pumpin' grooves, Rod has found the perfect medium for his stories and contagious vocal hooks?and he's going to need an arena-sized room to show them off.

Rawk Kandy
With some of the best musical influences of the 70’s, 80’s, 90,s and 2000’s, Rawk Kandy delivers high energy millennium rock with a complete band of seasoned professional musicians. Rawk Kandy captures the “Essence of why we all love Classic Rock”. The moment you see and hear them, you will be reminded of some of your favorite rock entertainers. The experience will bring back memories of your first rock concert.
The combination of good solid original material and familiar “classics” makes for a very good time out. This group of talented musicians has shared the stage with Y&T, Black Crowes, Mollie Hatchet, Michael Schenker, and Coldblood, Cheap Trick, Blue Oyster Cult and the Tubes, to name a few.
Dave Saker plays lead guitar and writes the music on all the original songs. He has been a part of the Bay Area music scene for years. He has played in such bands as Ace Diamond, Bad Boy Eddy, Kid Kannibal, Rock the Nation, Mr. Green and now Rawk Kandy.
Josh Gibson is the lead singer and writes the lyrics on all the original songs. He has played in the “Alice In Chains” tribute band called junkHead.
Pep Salinas plays drums and records all the original music. He has played with Thieves in the Temple, Coldblood and Lydia Pense.

"Summur Reign Revolution is an experimental rock band based out of Buffalo, NY that was active from 1998-2005, and then disbanded. However, the band has been faithfully working on their 4rth studio album for the past year. The record, should hopefully be coming out before the end of 2009. The 4 songs demo "Queen Of Martyrs", was recorded and released in 2008, to give listeners a preview of the energetic new direction of the band. The band is fronted by Azim Hyzy, who is not only incredibly entertaining, but is also tremendously deep souled vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. The rhythm section includes the next Reinhardt generation, with Todd on bass, and Erik on drums respectively. Matt Heiss handles the 6-string duties with emphatic enthusiasm. His textural guitar playing brings in the much needed fresh resonance that the band has spent years searching for. SRR will be spending the rest of 2009 bringing their "one of a kind" stage show all across the Buffalo, NY and surrounding regions, so make sure you catch them at least once before you die. Take it from SRR fans, it is an experience not easily forgotten."
Evolving from a gang of mates with a shared love of rock n roll, Imperial Vipers exploded into action in early 2005. Ripping out tunes that fall somewhere between Soundgarden & The Clash their sound and live performance is hard to pigeon-hole and has been described quite simply as "Street Rock" by Anne Maria from Total Rock, a genre that the band identify with. "We were sick of all these public school pricks making what they claimed to be rock n roll music so we just had to show em how its done" says lead guitarist and main songwriter Wevs. Front man Ash Simmons adds "we're proud to be a British band who make real songs about real stuff but still have a good time doing it." The London & Luton based five-piece have already notched up an impressive list of successes throughout the UK and Europe. 2006 has seen them tour with the likes of the legendary Hanoi Rocks who loved the band's "energy and passion" and Ginger of Wildhearts fame who described them as "the best new band around." As well as playing with Marky Ramone, Supergrass, Goldie Lookin Chain and Towers Of London they also headlined both the Kone Funboard Festival to an audience of 10,000 at the Bercy Stadium in Paris and the 2005 World X-treme Sports Exhibition. In short, the Vipers swaggering and gritty rock n roll has already won them a legion of fans. The likes of Radio 1s Colin Murray, XFMs Ian Camfield, Iron Maiden front man and BBC 6 Music DJ Bruce Dickinson have all been vocal in their support of the band, as have leading UK rock magazines Classic Rock who gave debut album Searching:Falling:Silence an 8/10 rating, and Kerrang! who called them "an authentic shit-kicking rock n roll band with potential to cause structural damage." Meanwhile the band will carry on as they always have - playing shows, writing songs and doing things their own way without compromise. Imperial Vipers have arrived make sure you dont miss the ride.
EletriKa was formed in 1998, with the following initial purpose: to produce a high quality rock with some electronic music interventions. After a drastic line-up change, the band turned its sound into a heavier rock approach, recording V.S.F and its international version, S.O.B. After many gigs in Brazil and a fifteen-day French tour, EletriKa topped it off its S.O.B CD promotion tour, playing the Fury Fest, most famous rock French festival, along with Soulfly, Testament, Life Kit, Fear Factory, Slipknot, among others. Back to Brazil, EletriKa had the mission of facing the renowned “Porão do Rock” Festival, where it presented one of the most acclaimed performances of that night, according to the local media. In 2007, EletriKa enters a new phase in its career, with the arrival of new members.
