In todays struggling Christian music industry, it's becoming more difficult
to find a group who stands out from the crowd in a way that is not only good,
but memorable. However, like a refreshingly cold bottle of ice water to the
dry and thirsty desert wanderer, the female double-fronted band Ravenna (Ruh
-vin-uh) emerges new and exciting, quenching the thirst for new music with a
twist on todays “Christian” band and how it should look.
Ravenna is not a band you will forget. With just a quick listen, you will
easily discover what happens when you have the "shaken-not-stirred" mixture
of powerful lyrics and catchy dramatic music combined with the removed
limitations, standards, and "templates" of todays Christian music.
From the finger-tapping drum lines to the soaring harmonies of the two female
lead singers, their style is unique. It is mainly piano-driven melodic rock
and has been likened to such musical acts such as Eisley, Emery, The Hush
Sound, Lydia, and VersaEmerge.
Since their formation not long ago, Ravenna has opened for acts such as
eleventyseven, Nineball, Farebridge, Downcast, The Jason Lovins Band, and
COG. They have just released their first EP, Debrief,
produced and mastered by Nick Joyce (Our Hearts Hero). It is out now on physical release, iTunes, Amazon, and a cornucopia of digital distributors.
