I began piano lessons, thanks to my mother, at age 5 until age 12, although I wish I had continued taking lessons. From 5th grade through high school I played trumpet in the school band. I picked up guitar by myself at 14, with a rent-to-own electric guitar and terrible 15 watt amp. For me, picking up the bass guitar was a natural extension of six-string guitar, although I didn't get my own until 10 years later. When my younger brother reached seventh grade, he started playing percussion in band. Eventually my parents bought him a drum set, so of course I started playing that too...
Today, I am recording songs in my home studio using the following instruments/equipment:
