With an Acoustic Heart Rävinwolf is a powerhouse of talent with the drive it takes to succeed in the music business. Acoustic Alchemists, their signature style is soulful, sweet and solid... even dangerous...their refreshing and truly original sound takes you someplace new in rock music. Songwriters since childhood, the power duo Ravinwolf exemplifies the type of haunting original sound making it's way out of the ethereal desert sageland of Central Washington State and onto the national and international stage. Offering a refreshing lyrical and musical change Ravinwolf stands front and center emerging ready and steady from the American Roots Rock genre.

Ravinwolf featured on soundtrack to Leaning Wolf Productions 2009 full-length feature documentary "Back to the Farm" detailing the state of the family farm and the effects of factory farming on global agriculture and attitudes towards farming. (below)

"Ravinwolf has found out how to keep themselves alive as a business and still have plenty left to rock the clubs. They also know to rise above the crowd in the music world you have to have your own voice , your own style and your own music...that they do!"

- Homer Alaska News (Arts & Entertainment)

"...bands are nearly as numerous as beetle kill spruce trees ... Ones that can sing in harmony are less common, and ones with enough of their own stuff to put together an album worth listening to, cuts the number further. Add a sense of musical arrangement, a male-female singing duo that sound like they fetched their voices out of the same gene pool and you’ve got Ravinwolf!"

- Homer Alaska News (Arts & Entertainment)..

>"Ravinwolf takes you someplace new in rock vocals..."

SAGEBRUSH BLUES

Photobucket

The performing singer-songwriters, Ravinwolf, were born in the mountains of Roslyn in Central Washington State and broke sound barriers down the Eastern slope of the Cascades and onto the back porches of the historic old western hitching posts of Ellensburg, Washington, a.k.a. 'Robber's Roost' ... Their creative approach to the acoustic blues is what they like to call "Sagebrush Blues" heralding the stylings native to old tumbleweed valleys and coal-stacked alleys...of shotgun weddings & outlaw bettings, of corn-fed back porch acoustic blues, lost cowboys and the dusty trails of rural America....yet they leave behind an ethereal musical legacy that expresses the disillusionment of the night sky and the rejuvenation of ancient truth.

Photobucket
Ravinwolf is dedicated to the blues. They have released 2 full-length studio CD’s and are currently working on a live all acoustic album entitled “Acoustic Champagne” to be released in 2009. Their tour schedule is robust with appearances scheduled this season at Seattle's Highway 99 Blues Club, The Rock Fish in Anacortes, Wenatchee's Apple Blossom Festival, Yakima Valley Folkilfe Festival, Caffe Mela Summer Concert Series and many more of the brews & blues venues, winery Summer Concert venues and premiere music festivals the great Northwest has to offer. They are also pleased to be offering their support to national talent such as Carrie Clark and Wa Blues Society's 2008 Award Winner Alice Stuart & the Formerlys and sharing dates this season with Sidestreet Reny & the Georgetown Orbits!.

"We are accustomed to presenting our music with the intimate musicality of showcase concert performers..." - Rävinwolf

PhotobucketMost recently, Rävinwolf has been featured on the film soundtrack to Leaning Wolf Productions’ 2009 documentary release “Back to the Garden” featuring Willie Nelson, Neil Young and Dave Matthews. For the film, they debuted three new songs . . . ‘Family Farm’, ‘This Old Burg’ and the title track ‘’Back to the Garden’.

Photobucket

Ravinwolf actively supports the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) and Farm Aid through their album sales, donated time & labor. Ravinwolf is a staunch supporter of efforts to keep the local Live Music scene alive in rural America.

Loosely tight...seamless...ethereal...haunting...intoxicating live...Ravinwolf makes distinctively clear the difference between guitar playing AND artistry. They rise above the crowd with their own voice...to produce a happy-hip, cowboy-tipping, acoustic bluesy phenomenon they call RAVINWOLF.

PhotobucketWhen a song is born into the light we can feel the contractions as tentacles of stories wriggle and writhe for expression. Together we stand as the singer-songwriters of Rävinwolf to birth these songs, fortunate enough to have toured to the distant reaches of Alaska and survived…fortunate enough to have battled our own demons there and survived…the stolen tour bus fiasco… the analog studio sessions…15 bass players & 12 drummers…the hijacked songs…the giftings of star-struck fans…getting paid in hamburgers…the tableside serenades to the rich & eccentric…the chicken-wire tour…the blown bus tires…the ketchup bottle slide bars…playin’ the streets…brand new dreams…and the comings apart at the seams… the steep climb up and the slippery slope of all the falling downs along the way of our tender years together make Rävinwolf the force of nature we have grown to be unable to live without. "

For full Jamey Bio please visit www.ravinwolf.com

..FaeRaven - Guitars, Vocals, Piano

Photobucket On rhythm guitar, lead vocals and keys, songwriter and co-founder of Ravinwolf is 'FaeRaven'. FaeRaven's folk, & blues, classical and jazz background has given Ravinwolf the back-drop for their trademark sound. FaeRaven's musical experience reaches from a line of family ancestors and educators descending from the classical pianist Vladimir Horowitz, gospel songwriter Elisha Hoffman and the jazzy blues roots of Bessie Smith, Sarah Vaughn and Ella Fitzgerald. She has been a solo & ensemble artist of live performance for over 20 years. Ravinwolf has given her an outlet with which to marry her acoustic folk, classical piano and vocal jazz backgrounds to bluesy rock and roll. With Ravinwolf she has experienced the big stage in support of international talent for performers such as Elvin Bishop, The Romantics, Alice Stuart & the Formerlys and most recently Carrie Clark. Her strongest songwriting influences are Lyle Lovett, Amy Grant, Neil Young, John Prine, Sue Ennis, Robert Zimmerman, Robert Hunter, John Barlow, Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bessie Smith, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis and John Coltrane. On the piano she is influenced by Gretta Butta, Vladamir Horowitz and Johnny Smith, while her guitar influences are inspired by the work of Wayne Bartolet, James Bilyeu, Leo Kottke and the late William Kent Bilyeu.

THE RHYTHM SECTION

>Geoff Middleton- Congas, Percussives

PhotobucketGeoff Middleton has been involved in marching band and drum corps activities in the Northwest for the past 13 years. He has experience teaching both high school, middle school drumlines, and also gives private instruction. Geoff has done everything from full band arrangements, drill design, marching and visual instruction, percussion composition and arrangement, percussion caption head, assistant band director and marching band judge. Above all Geoff simply loves to write and share his love for music and percussion. He is currently continuing his education at the School of Music at Central Washington University and has joined the Ravinwolf team on hand percussion and jazz kit this season. Geoff's sense of artistic merit and creative musical ideas have really brought a cushion of rhythm to Ravinwolf's front porch this summer and his contribution to the band promises to bring new adventure on many Pacific Northwest stages! Welcome Geoff. Check out his project at www.drumlinemusic.net.<

Bret Smith - Bass, Mandolin, Cello

PhotobucketBret Smith is a teacher, educator, conductor, Deadhead, and cellist who specializes in instrumental music education and psychedelic improvisation. A dear lifelong friend and comrade of Ravinwolf he joined alliances with the band in 2007 during a recording project in which he was invited to lay cello tracks on their second studio album "Buttons & Freedom" ...thereby permanently contributing to their signature sound. After two years of playing live with Ravinwolf, Bret has become an integral part of their meanderings into the psychedelic blues and is a catalyst to their musical growth. Ravinwolf proudly features Bret on mandolin and cello and more recently he has stepped into the bass position where his talents shine most brightly. "Bret thinks that Pete Skjold makes amazing basses, and feels happy when he plays his." http://www.skjolddesign.com/

Garey Williams - Drums & Percussion

PhotobucketGarey Williams has steadily built a reputation as both a world-class drummer and uniquely gifted educator. With over thirty years playing experience and over twenty years teaching experience, Garey has received attention from International publications and well known drummers. With a Master's degree in Percussion Performance and Jazz Studies at Central Washington University, drummer Williams has been a fixture in the Northwest scene, having performed with such musicians as Diana Krall, Kristin Korb, Bud Shank, Barney McClure, Howard Roberts, Joe Williams, Bobby Shew, Jay Thomas, Clay Jenkins, Milt Jackson, Cedar Walton, Ray Brown and Dizzy Gillespie. In 2001 he re-formed Ecstasy In Numbers with guitarist Mike Mattingly and bassist Rick White. The band became a hit on the underground scene and for three years have toured and performed in Seattle and the Northwest to standing-room-only crowds. During the past couple of years Garey has joined forces with Ravinwolf again, during their most recent recording project and second studio album "Buttons & Freedom" and for a number of high profile live appearances on the Seattle blues scene. World class performer & time keeper, Garey smiles through the rough patches and the not so rough patches in the creative process with Ravinwolf. This season the band is pairing him for the first time with Dr. Smith the fretless wonder in hopes of taking the psychedelic blues experience to new heights. Watch for Garey's appearance on their schedule where the full tilt-boogie blues act is featured. Visit Garey website at www.gareywilliams.com

A live moment in time, "How Are You" was recorded during a 2 week marathon session for Ravinwolf in the rainy Willamette Winter of 1998.
