Ravi's Interests
|
| General | travelling to far away places, eating, napping, doin it (that's right ladies), laughing, cooking, basketball, teaching, knowing a thing or two about a thing or two, eating Kebabs, b-e-e-r, beach going, getting along with my associate employees, a good book, delighting in people, to one day say that I've seen everything, being tried by unruly teenagers, growing a FRO, guitar, instilling a desire to learn, laughing at the president, tomfoolery and shennanigans. | | Music | Common, Wutang, Mos Def, also Public Enemy, OUTKAST is great, Bob Marley, Soundgarden, Audioslave, late Beatles, the Love Walrus Barry White, 60/70s--Zeppelin, CREAM, Pink Floyd, Jimi, the emaciated version John Lennon, Marvin freakin Gaye, the ROOTs, Radiohead, Fiona Apple, Kanye West, Missy Elliot, Incubus, the Gza, the underrated Ghostface Killa, Sublime, Queens of the Stone Age, B.I.G, most sappy/freaky 90s RnB is nice--Blackstreet, FoxyBrown, Chuck Berry, The Police, Lauryn Hill, Steve Wonder, Otis Reading, and on and on... | | Movies | Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle, Pulp Fiction, Coming to America, The Good the Bad and the Ugly, Princess Bride day, Office Space too, Halfed-Baked, A Fistful of Dollars, Pale Rider, The Usual Suspects, anything with Christopher Walken, Shawshank Redemption, most Woody Allen films, X-men, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Silence of the Lambs, Blazing Saddles, Anchorman, The Great Escape, The Guns of Navarone, Life is Beautiful, Batman, Unforgiven | | Television | flicks | | Books | The Tale of Genji--The first novel EVER was wriiten in Japan by some lady. Her name escapes me, but her book, which could be used to bludgeon a rhino (its big folks), is all about the life of this guy Genji, who climbs the social hierarchy in feudal Japan and sleeps with alot of women. An original G. I believed they called him. The original Genji. A helluva read.
The Trial--I love this disturbing account of K., a man who wakes up one morning to find that he is being charged with a crime. Despite his frustration, no one ever tells him what the charge is. He is forced to go through countless futile, tedious exercises/trials to defend his innocence. Anyway, K. grows progressively tormented and unhinged. In the end, he's murdered "like a dog" in cold blood. I suppose the message is that innocence has nothing to do with suffering, and there is no rhyme or reason to life because its random and absurd. And that in the end we die alone like dogs.
Actually, I dont like this book. | | Heroes | thakur and shavithri |
