About me: A LIL' BACKGROUND TEAZER...
I'm one of the few women working in an industry completely run by men...TECHNOLOGY. Because of that, I've grown some pretty thick skin, learned a great deal about the male psyche and have pretty much confirmed that males are the weaker sex and all it takes is a hot chick in their presence. I have used and continue to plan on using that to my advantage and hasn't backfired yet.
HOW I GOT HERE...
I often get asked how I landed in the wonderful world of IT. I've been told "I don't look the part," "act the part," and have even been asked if I was a former porn star. (The answer to that is NO, by the way.) So I've done a few photo shoots and dabbled in the music biz for a bit but always kept career and ambition on the forefront. Sorry about the digression, back to the question...I started my IT career by building and analyzing report metrics. Got really good at it, then next thing you know I'm building an entire fucking Data Warehouse! WTF? Data and analytics bores me to pieces! So I started making my way into the App/Dev and Product Mgmt world and that's where I made my mark.
WHY I'M STILL HERE...
I actually enjoy technology and have leeched on to its progression. Takes some pretty creative minds to come up with the shit that's out there! It's a rare breed that most people don't get. You think "IT Guy" and think pocket-protectors, coke-bottle thick lenses secured by heavy-duty wire frames, Dockers, speaks in code and silly acronyms and just plain out dry and drab. Oh, and did I forget to mention Indian? (No offense, but let's be real.)
So I'm here to break that mold. It's about fucking time an IT chick is the talk and the life of the next Corporate Holiday Party! Not to mention, what better line of work to be in where you get to whip and order men around!
THE PLAN...
I'm going to take my IT Department from drab and hum-drum to wild and rockin'! This will get interesting with roadblocks such as Corporate Politics and the conservative Corporate culture getting in the way of things.
And I'll write about it here...stay tuned, it's a New Year so I'm starting with a blank canvas.
