RawJazz started out a mere five years ago as a simple saxophone ensemble consisting of 8 instruments, a few sheets of music and a conductor. Their weekly meetings stemmed from a curiosity to see what a few finely tuned numbers could sound like. Today, just a few years on, RawJazz has over 60 members, an extensive repertoire and continues to entertain audiences of up to 500 people at various concerts around the North West.
Mr. Tim Donnelly, the Head of Music at Bishop Rawstorne Language College, devoted Musical Director to the School Orchestra and the aptly named RawJazz, is always keen to extend the Big Bands already huge programme of music. From classic jazz to swing, La Bamba to American Pie, RawJazz has got it all, theres something for absolutely everyone.
The Band has a wide range of instruments, from the obvious saxophones and trumpets, to the unexpected brass baritones. The vast line up of sounds ensures a rich tone and texture that could fill any concert hall. Recent venues include The Southport Floral Hall, and the impressive Guild Hall, Preston, not bad for a school band!
If you are interested in booking RawJazz for an event, or would simply like to make enquiries, please contact Tim Donnelly on 01772 602887 or alternatively call 07727293359 and leave a message if no-one is available to take your call. Thank You for your time, we hope you enjoy the site, but most importantly, we hope you enjoy the music!
