Broken, yet irreplaceable,
This chasm is starting to seem never ending.
They say time is the remedy,
Yet no matter how fast it flies,
I’m still standing here.
Slow motion run,
While someone presses rewind on my thoughts.
I’ve seen this before,
Felt it over and over.
It won’t become a familiar blur fast enough.
Wishing upon eyelashes,
It’s the last ounce of optimism I have left.
I hopelessly cling to you,
Yet I’m losing myself.
I’ve become scarred beyond repair.

Winter is here again,
Oh how it never seems to fade,
With its cold, harsh sting,
And colorful garland strings,
Bringing a feeling I just can’t bear.
Spring and Summer seem but a dream,
A pleasant thought to pass the time,
A nicer place,
With warmth and laughter,
The serenity I’ll never find.
Fall will never come,
For there’s no start to bring an end,
No need for falling leaves,
A biting, chilly breeze,
No time to make amends.
You’ll always be that sudden breeze,
Piercing through the chilly night,
The one that makes you stop and smile,
Full of warmth and life,

Dream come true is just a nightmare in disguise.
There’s no happy ending,
No healing light at the end of the tunnel,
Just an internal chaos that will never ebb away.
We always let people get our hopes up,
Even though we know disappointment is imminent.
We’re so ready for that break,
That moment of completion,
Yet the only thing that ever forms is heartache.
We’ll never learn until it’s too late,
Until the idea of trusting again is so preposterous,
But it’s what we’ll secretly long for.
We’ll rant about the injustice of it all,
Complain about the empty feeling welling inside.
No one will ever just admit that
All they really want is for someone to take a chance on them,
To not give up on them when it seems that hope is lost.

So once upon a time ago
I met this little girl.
Little did I know
that she'd soon become my world.
Every day I'd go to see her
more excited than the last.
I loved to be around her,
we always had a blast.
She always accepted me,

She actually treated me like a person,
not like just a bother.
She introduced me to a world,
one I didn't know existed.
She became my very first friend,
and her intentions were never twisted.
She explained so much to me,
like how I'm a good person no matter what.
Now, six years later,
nothing could ever split us up.

The Struggle
Here I sit again,
Deep in my dark corner,
Trying to hide myself,
From the terrors of their minds.
The glass has been shattered,
Only to be replaced by bars,
Showing them my broken defense,
And the opening they had been waiting for.
They smell the fear,
They smell the weakness,
They claw at the bars,
Nothing can stop their eagerness.
They're beyond courtesy,
They're beyond manners,
They reach through the bars,
Border lining on madness.
They resort to trickery,
Backstabbing each other,
To get what they want,
Using pretty words to try and lure me out.
I tell them to stop,
I try to ignore them,
They only snarl in anger,
The need for victory driving them forward.
They'll never give up,
I'll never give in,
They fight with the lock,
But they'll never win.

For only one has the key,

This girl here is one of the most important people in my life. Yes, you heard me. Be jealous. She's been my best friend since 6th grade. Hell, she was my first friend. She's the first person I turn to when I have a problem and she's always there for me. Whether it's a shoulder to cry on or someone to slap me because I'm being ridiculous. She's one of the most amazing people I have ever met, even if she's just starting to realize this. She's able to make me laugh no matter what and just seeing her brightens my day. I'd say we're like sisters, but sometimes that doesn't seem to be the right word to describe the bond we have. We know practically everything about each other and we know what each other is thinking despite the acts we put up. We've learned so much from each other. We can act like kids together and not worry about what anyone else thinks because it only matters what we think. We can talk for hours and then when we get off the phone we'll talk even longer on AIM. She's at college now so I won't get to see her as much, but we'll always be each others number 1 best friend. Hands down. You can complain that you're not my number 1 on myspace all you want, but she'll always have that spot. We still talk almost every night. Which is more than I talk to you. =] We laugh at the little things and we have a joke about almost anything. So if we're laughing and you're not, that's why. If this man here doesn't deserve to be in my best friends list, then I don't know who else would be. Except Tara. We have gone through an unbelievable amount together. More than I have with almost any other person. He knows SO much about me that it's not even funny. We might as well have grown up together, that's how close we are. No matter what we go through, in the end we're always there for each other. He listens to my problems and helps me when I need it and I try and do the same for him. He knows my dark little secrets and he'd never tell anyone either. I owe a lot to him. He's taught me so much. He's the one who helped unlock the person I am now. He taught me compassion, caring, understanding, and most of all, how to be patient. He helped me see that no matter what happens, there's something good waiting for you at the end so don't give up. He understands me better than anyone I know and I'd never get tired of talking to him. He always knows just how to cheer me up, even if there was nothing wrong. We don't talk every minute of the day, but we talk at least once a day. If we have a problem we'll talk to each other about it. I trust him with my life and I know I can count on him. So there's this girl that I talk about all the damn time and her name is Ashley. Yeah, I'm talking about you. She knows who she is. She's one of the most AMAZING girls I know. We have problems like.. once every blue moon. That's how close we are. It might take us a little while to fix what happened, but in the end we're always right there like nothing happened. We've been friends for so long and I know I can trust her with anything. She's seen me at my worst times and helped me through them. I've shared so many things with this girl in the short amount of time that we've known each other that it's absolutely insane. She's just that amazing. So, about this girl.. she's one of the coolest people I know. We didn't really start talking until 10th grade when we had most of our classes together. I've known James for what seems like forever. About 5 years if I was to estimate. We may not have talked everyday, or maybe every month in those 5 years, but I've always had a connection with him. He may not always be around for months upon months, I've even gone a year or so without talking to him, but I'd still choose him over many of the people I know today.
