"The perpetual stain of institutional racism from the blatant brutality, degradation, murder and out right mind control tactics of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade; to Jim Crow, and the subjective racism that's so prevalent today; these events have unquestionably embedded a deep physiological scar on the psyche of Africans “Black people” world wide; including within United States, and have not been adequately addressed by the architects thereof."

“We cannot separate America’s greatness from the process that made her great.  America was made great (strong) through the unpaid labor (slavery) and transportation of human cargo during the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade; which must be duly recompensed.”

Poem 4 Young Brothers
(Dedicated 2 Derrion Albert, 16 and Kevin Miller, 13)
By Derrick James Thornton

I don’t mean to wake you from obscurity…

But there is No Santa Clause.
No Easter Bunny.
No Tooth Fairy or Boogeyman hiding under your Bed.
But there are two more young black men DEAD.

And that’s a reality.
One 16… Another 13…
Each of them a casualty.
They were old enough to know the dangers of street life,
however still too young to be a formality.

Young Black men…
Why do we continue to look at life as if it’s disposable?
We must learn that we cannot go in and out of this life- unnoticeable.
We leave behind Black mothers and grandmothers who can do nothing more than become emotional…

They wake up clinching bibles, and crying out for Jesus.
And all the while… We make them take that extra mile….
And kill each other for no obvious reason.

But we “Gangsta” ain’t we?
Proving our gangsta by talking all gangsta and rockin’ Chucks.
It takes 3 of us to jump a brother, or shoot him in his head…
When we can fight it out… Let the anger out…
Both go home and the next morning each wake up.
Man, we gotta get tired of taking close-ups…

TV cameras and mug shots.
We gotta get dedication…
To education….
And stop pushin crack rocks.

In one week…
Both Derrion Albert and Kevin Miller were murdered in the streets.
One on a block in Chicago and the other on a street corner in Queens.
Both of them were Royalty…
Forced to exit so horribly…
And neither of them were allowed to become KINGS.

This…MUST STOP!!!!

Just sending a special thank you again for everyone that has helped keep my books, "Stories I Wouldn't Tell Nobody But God" and "Cold Summer Afternoon" on the best-sellers list for 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. First up, "Stories I Wouldn't Tell Nobody But God..."

Feel free to check out my profile, here on Myspace or my official website at www.RasheedClark.com, read the blogs, or just listen to the music that relates to what I am writing about.
"Stories I Wouldn't Tell Nobody But God" and it's explosive follow up, "Cold Summer Afternoon," which questions what kind of secrets would drive a woman to commit murder, are both available now at Amazon.com, BN.com (Barnes and Nobles) and where ever quality books are sold. If they don't have it, request that they put it on their shelves.
Buy a copy for you and someone you know that loves a good book. You'll be glad you did. You will want somebody to talk to about these two and will not want to wait until they read yours. Thanks!
