*HISTORY
****************************************************************************************
Borned in Caen (Bass Normandie) and passionate by the music since he was very young, Raia discovered his singer's talents when he was 15. He built then a groupe, "Yemanjah" with his high school friends.
In 2001, he met Killa B, member of the 220 Sound System, who initiated him to the sound system culture and invited him to join the parties and sing with Mr. Critik & Combo.
Dynamized by this movement, Raia decided to create his own sound, Pyramind, with Admiral G and Puppa Alex.
In the mean while, he was kept going his collaboration with 220 sound and the whole sound systems which were just rising in this time.
In 2002, he recorded a first street album featuring Sista Myah, (Positive radical sound female singer) who initiate herself to the lead within Pyramind. It was also the first dubplates time…
After few years of studies in Le Havre and many shows in Caen, Paris, Lille, etc… (thanks the sounds as Full Faya, Nice Star, Creata, Dub Livity, Faya Crew, Guiding Star…), Raia came back to Caen and did some shows with the Burning Blend (Band), featuring some local artists (Dar K, Critik, Mr Flow, Myah).
At the end of 2006, he recorded a street album dedicated to some mythical Studio One riddims and produced by the "Peacemakers" association (Creata sound).
In the same breathe, he recorded in 2007 an other street album called "Straight forward", most turned towards to the nu roots and produced by SMN crew.
Thanks to his supports, Raia continued to produce himself through the whole France and even crossed the borders (Grenoble, Lorient, Valencia, ...).
In the begining of 2008, Raia moved to Nice where he kept going on one side his collaborations with the local protagonists (around Nimes, Montpellier, Avignon, Aubenas, Toulon,...) and the other one his shows everywhere else in France.
Today Raia works with the Wadadub Soldier (Band / Mtp) and prepares some studio projects with Digital Cut (Mtp), participates to a radio program with Da Sound (Nîmes) and push again the "Peer A Mind Sound" (dirty south version of the Pyramind) with Puppa Alex and some brand new recruits... He also keeps going his shows with many sounds and promoters…

STYLE & INFLUENCES
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Rocked by a lot of various musical styles during his childhood, Raia is first attracted to the reggae for its rebel and militant side.
As years go along, he has discovered the all the tendencies, to then include some of them to his own style…
This diversity is very important because he defines himself first as a listener and a passionate spectator.
Sound system Mc and selector, he enjoys playing and listening music as creating it.
His vocal style was at the begining influenced by his first discoveries in the reggae (Marley, Aswad, Gladiators, etc….) to turn towards to the dancehall toast when he joined the sound system fraternity. Fan of rasta singjay such as Sizzla, Capleton, Jah Mason, Jr Kelly, he made fast a style where French, English, toast and singing are mixed.
By the time, he has invested himself more with the singing side literally speaking, including some lover or spiritual songs ton his repertory. At the same time he has kept developing his ragamuffin flow initiated from the beginning by some artists such as Shabba Ranks, Beenie Man, Mad Cobra and many others…)
Raia considers the reggae music as a real culture and patrimony, itself fed by many influencies. He thinks we should dip inside hardly, further than the European culture considers as a common carbon copy… (he explains this feeling in his song S'inspirer pour créer" (Straight Forward /2007)). No barriers, no borders, give the priority to the feeling and the human side…
This is the principal message of his lyrics, which, after having exhausted first the classical themes of the reggae (Babylone, Ganja, Lover, etc…) to turn to themes more precise reaching his reality and his conviction ( Social, family, medias, globalization, consummation, etc…) and keep sometimes the reggae metaphors in particular trough the Jamaican patois.
His human and united values, Raia has put them in the centre of his music… deciding notably to not tend to live for this one and thus stay with some simple things and some people who share it. A choice he was able to do thanks to his job as fulfilling.
Currently to reggae, hip hop or acoustic music, Raia dreams about be able to integrate other influences to his music (soul, jazz, tzigane music, raï, …). Time will tel …
