Interests

  • General

I enjoy reading, going to the movies, watching TV, going to see theatre, going to Angel games, traveling, dining out and finding new things to do.
  • Music

My personal music tastes favor jazz, pop, show tunes and film scores. I also like well done acapella music (but not the kind with a lot of beat boxing).

    Favorite tunes include:

"Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing" by Stevie Wonder (and I enjoy the covers by various artists)

"Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen

"Fantasy" and "September" by Earth, Wind and Fire

The entire "Offbeat of Avenues" album by The Manhattan Transfer

"Music of Heaven" by Jason Robert Brown

"Cat on a Windowsill", "Houston", and the entire "Urban Daydreams" album by David Benoit

"Keep the Fire", "I'm Free" and "This Is It" by Kenny Loggins

There is also a very good cover of Loggins' "This Is It" by The Nylons

"And So It Goes, and Allentown" by Billy Joel

"Boogie Down" and "10K High" by Al Jarreau

My favorite musicals include: Les Miserable, Wicked, Parade, and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. My favorite film scores include all the films I name below and anything by Alan Silvestri.
  • Movies

I like all genre of films, but favor science fiction and mysteries. My favorite film is Superman the Movie (1978). I also enjoyed the Back to the Future trilogy and the Indiana Jones films - and most of the Star Trek films. I enjoyed the Star Wars films, but confess that I am not a big fan.

  • Television

I enjoy watching Smallville, ER, Law & Order: SVU, Doctor Who, and Torchwood.
  • Books

I'm currently reading "The Assault on Reason" by Al Gore and recently completed and enjoyed reading "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" by Mark Haddon, "The Art of Detection" by Laurie R. King, "Cross" by James Patterson, "I Will Plant You a Lilac Tree" by Laura Hillman, and Bang: Getting Your Message Heard in a Noisy World" by Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval.

I also grew up avidly collecting comic books and still have stored away a large collection. I stay in tune with what is written today and enjoy in particular, stories by Grant Morrison and the art of Alex Ross, and Ariel Olivetti.
