Born and raised in Philadelphia. I started playing guitar in high school. I was into Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Santana, etc. In the 80’s played in various rock bands until one day I came across a Joe Pass record. I was so intrigued by his solo lines I started to transcribe and analyzed them against the chord progression. The result: I was hooked, at that point I started listening to a lot Jazz. Then one night in 1987 at the Tower Theater I went to see Chick Corea’s Elektric Band. Who was this guitarist that was playing Coltrane lines one measure and blues licks the next, who else but Scott Henderson. That night I realized this is the type of music I want to play and someday write.
In 1996 right before I put down the guitar I played on a few demo tracks which made there way onto a CD Music Under the Influence. After a eight year hiatus and a bout with cancer in 2006 (see after surgery pics Ouch!) I have found the guitar again. This year unlike the last ten I am enjoying life.

PS. We would be very happy if you can also add “Mindmovie” our guitarist & keyboarder to your friendlist. He is just about to release his first solo album. He is very easy to find as he is the number one in our topfriends list.
I'm happy and honored to inform you that our new album "MASISAMBA" is almost ready to be released via internet! (there is some artwork left to do). Thank you very much for your interest in what we do. Our MySpace player plays more than 150 times over night ! ! ! ! ! ! It inspires my colleagues ! ! ! ! ! There is not much real Big Band music in today's world. To be frank, it takes a lot of effort to keep musicians together. So your interest helps me to cope with this!
cordially, Armen Martirosian, artistic director, Armenian Jazz Band
P.S.I created a new group JAZZ ORCHESTRAS !!!!!!!!!
