Oh, you know, the usual.
Beatles, Paul Simon, Billy Joel.
Any good songwriters, really, regardless of genre.
I do like some of the old french stuff, Brel, Brassens.
Anybody who lived by their own belief system.

I once read a biography on the lives and works of the Beatles called "The Love You Make", and pretty much decided then that THAT was what I wanted to do. Write songs and perform them. It seemed to me then, as it does today, a noble way to live a life, and I've managed to get reasonably good at it.
The music business (although I remain convinced that those two words should never sit in the same sentence) has always frustrated me, and any encounter I've had with it has left me empty. I have been in and out of various contracts throughout my 15 years of writing and performing, but recently came to the conclusion that "there's only one way of life, and that's your own".
I now try to concentrate on the opportunities that songcraft presents to me. I am blessed with the ability to communicate through song, and as a result, I am often invited to sing throughout the world. I therefore try to breathe every moment of this journey deeply into my lungs, in the knowledge that whatever stage I strive for, whatever future goal I may have will only take from my appreciation of this present moment.
