Concert at Worcester Arts Workshop
Review by Lucas Ball in Worcester Evening News:

THERE cannot be many guitarists around like Ray Mytton.
Worcester Arts Workshop was treated to an evening of him displaying a rendition of material from Renaissance to present-day folk music including some of his own compositions.
He played a lute that was especially made for him and progressed to modern guitar as time went on, and in the second half was joined by a vocalist and double bass player.
Because Ray Mytton likes intimacy as much as his audience, the event was gentle and candle-lit. One of Vivaldi’s Lute Concertos was included in the first half and this was as personal as personal can be.
He talked in between numbers about the importance of each piece including its cultural significance.
He is somebody to look out for on YouTube.

'The guitarist and bass player have been playing together a long time, I can tell' -Robert Plant

Enchanted Heart

Over the last few years, Ray has become interested in the more traditional side of composing and music-making. ‘Enchanted Heart’ is a collection of pieces has been created using the natural sounds of the instruments, without the over-saturation of modern technological effects.

‘Enchanted Heart’ is a collection of acoustic music, strongly rooted in the Celtic folk tradition of Britain, and embracing a multitude of styles from contemporary to classical, both old and new, and seeming to cross centuries. This eclectic mix of songs, airs, incantations, reels and ragas, with unforgettable lyrics, intertwining rhythms and lilting melodies, dances between time and eternity, and draws upon the listening human heart.

‘Enchanted Heart’ can be bought from Red Dog Records www.reddogrecords.co.uk, from Rose’s Corner, Bridge Street Upton-upon Severn, and direct from Ray Mytton.

Testimonials for ‘Enchanted Heart’

“A delightful cd. Recorded superbly, and performed from the heart, lovely, wistful, ethereal music. I particularly enjoyed track three and track ten, and the one inspired by yours truly. VERY flattered and touched by that, thank you. I loved some of the instrumentation; the flute and the cello worked really well. I congratulate you on a job well done!”

Gordon Giltrap

“If this is your first album, it is conceived and executed to a rare degree, really lovely. It is all of a piece. Listening to it is a bit like having one of those nice dreams one occasionally has, when you dream everything is right. ‘Watching the Rain’ is rather special, but all the tracks are wonderful, not a moment’s doubt about any of them, so another affirmative from me. It also quintessentially English, which is nice. I wish I could dedicate my songs to recording this comfortably – it isn’t that easy.”

...I understand all this, really i do! But with the work on the album really hotting up at the moment, we don't really get the chance to play that much... further more these two dates will be the last we'll play before the album launch (TBA)

The shows are going to be full of great music... with a select few 'Michael Mann Band' members performing solo sets, such as... Jenny Hallam, Lawrence Jepson, Hywel Pothecary and Alex Albrow. Both nights will conclude with the M.M. Band doing are thang! So your looking at around three hours of music for free, as both venues charge no admission!

So... the venues and dates are as follows...

# Priors Croft, Great Malvern, at 8:30 (Thursday 25th of Sept)
# The Lamb, West Malvern, at 8:30 (Friday 26th of Sept)

The full band playing these dates are as follows...

The Michael Mann Band 2008

Alex Albrow – Guitar
Chris Hewitt – Drums

The sound of healing angelic fingertips dipped in honey is the only way to describe the effect on the heart of listening to Ray Mytton’s “Enchanted Heart”. Each track is a joyous aural soundscape from the intimate “ A Lover’s Welcome to “ the circadian rhythm’s of “Summer Sound Raga”. The haunting “All the Saints in Heaven” and a delicate rendition of the traditional “Star of the County Down”.

Ray Mytton’s heart is indeed enchanted.

Yes I have seen you close up and I hadn't noticed, but anyhow I think big ones are just fine. However it's totally justifiable to use software to reduce it if you want to and it's much easier than surgery! ;-)
