About me:
How Ray-Ray Got On Tha Map
I was born Ray-Ray, in a small town called Flint, Michigan. I lived in Michigan until I was 5 years old. Then I had to move to Columbus, Ohio because of my mother's job. In Columbus, Ohio I was strayed from my older brothers, so I didn't know too much about them. I really didn't do nothin in Columbus but be bad. But then I had to move AGAIN to Memphis, Tennesee. That's when I started rappin. Ma brother came down ther to vist and he was livin with us for about 6 months. While he was there he bought a Drum Machine he was savin. So I was like, "Man he got a Beat Machine maybe I can try to rap." That's where it started. I asked him coould I be a rapper, he said "Yea." So I wrote ma first song called "You Weak Lil' Boy Around The Corner" hahaha. I as funny. He told me it was good, but I know that it was whack. But it was a start. I just kept writin, until ma brother moved back to Flint. So I just stopped writin.
We constintly moved around Memphis year after year. We stayed on the EastSide though. On Old North Drive, I was at Kirby Middle in sixth grade on up to 7th grade. In Seventh grade I met two of ma friends named Essa Sharif and Shedrich Hughes. It seemed like they were tryna rap too. So I joined in a group wit them called The Three Kings. Shedrich was the King Of Clubs, Essa was the King of Hearts, and I was the King Of Spades (symbolizin the best.) We did raps here in there practicin them left and right. But then we changed our name again (Well me and Essa did.) We never really had a name we just had some good individual names. Around then me and Essa liked 50 Cent when he came out in 2003. So he named his self Eazy Cent (Since he called himself Eazy), I named myself Rayz-A-Cent (Because of my name, and Shedrich had the most unique one, he was short so we call Shedich (Short-A-Cent). That was so funny. I was continuin to do my thing when I noticed that Essa and Shedrich wasn't rappin no more, so i just said "F it, they ain't writin I ain't writin no more."
But then I moved AGAIN to North Memphis in 2003, to some apartments called French Village. It was straight guttah up there. We did some bad stuff up there. You don't wanna know what I did. But anyway, when I was there ma friend Kareem (Another Short Rapper) put together a rap group in the neighborhood. It was MarKey, Kareem, Me, and Romeo. Some dudes hated cause we wouldn't let them in. Claimin they was gone do they own cause they Daddy knew 36 Mafia. We never had a name but I do remember the first song we made. It was called "Ima Playa." Everybody in the apartments knew that song and we never recorded. We'd go to the green box every day and battle. Had MarKey on the beat. We used the same beat. That Eminem and D12 song "Purple Pillz." "De-de-na-nut Huh De-de-na-nut Huh" Everyday In the summer. I wrote my first good solo song called "A Struggler." Everybody knew that too. They'd be like, "Aye Ray-Ray come spit yo song." I'd go in "Just A Struggler In The Hood, Tryna Keep It All Good...." That was hott. But then they fell off too. They ain't wanna continue. But I did. I remixed all the songs we did. Then I moved back to the EastSide on Spring Oak Cove.
Now im 2004 I was in the 8th grade, i met someone named Everett. He was a real good rapper so I joined with him. I called myself DimeDroppaBoi until I found out the meaning of it. Then I changed my name to SubZero (Metaphor for Cold.) I forgot what he called hisself. But we was really doin our thing. We never fell off. Just writin everyday. Even made a song which was like a RUN DMC type one. He rap 2 bars then I'd Rap 2 Bars. It was cool to me though. We really did our thing. It was great to me cause his Dad was a producer and had a studio. At that time I forgot all about my connects. But in all that we were just writin that's it. Then I got kicked out of school.
Now a new school year was somin up, my 9th grade year at Kirby High. I met with Everett again who finally got a name (dElEquent.) We did the same thing we were doin in Middle School...Writin. But it was okay, the more the merrier. Everett introduce me to Joseph (Majic) who rapped. I barely knew him, but he was somebody to rap wit. While I was still writin ma friend Andre was readin some of ma raps tellin me I was whack, but he was just hatin it though. HE told me a couple of mine was good. He even gave me a couple lines.
I freestyled on his camera with his friend Lamar. We was just relaxin. This was in the summer of 2005. Now this is the summer time. I was always sittin at home typin up more raps onto my Computer, or chillin with Andre at the library. Everett and Majic came up there a couple times but we never freestyled. But then i had to moved AGAIN. So I had to leave behind all ma friends, and all ma groupies haha.
I moved back to Columbus, Ohio where it's so lame. Every rapper here does nothin but down me, but I always beat them in battle raps. But I aint let em get to me. I found out ma brother is a producer, went up to Flint, Michigan and got me some beats, wrote to em, He gave me some more I'm still writin to them....And I Just Met Ma Niggas Mike And Big D In MA Section. Big D Rapz, ANd Ma Nigga Mike Produces. We SPittin Flames(I Think). And Im Finally Recordin, And Doin Ma Thang...And this is how Ray-Ray Got On Tha Map!!!
