Biography
I started in the business
working for most of the photographers I'd read about when I was at
school and after I left [school] and moved to London I was soon shooting
with photographers like David Bailey, Herb Ritts (R.I.P), Robert Erdman
(ISABELLA BLOW), Rohn Meijer, Roger Charity (Ray Perti), Annie Leibovitz,
Steven Meisel, Guy Bourdin, Albert Watson and various assistants at
Vogue, Elle, Harpers and ID. The people in brackets are stylists that
helped me when I first produced my own works.
I
took my first pictures of models through Synchro Model Agency's Jonathan
Phang and Storm
Models founder Sarah
Doukas as well as Models
One and TakeTwo
Management and began specializing in fashion and beauty work using
large format cameras like the Sinar P 5x4 and 8x10.
My
interests in photography nowadays are more pictorial than commercial
and my approach is based on intuition, feeling, impressions, not formal
styles or methods. I am working on a new show right now. It's gonna
be an extravaganza!
I
take a huge amount of time and trouble over my work, organizing the
shoots if they involve people particularly, as well as post production. My
method of working has evolved over time, and I have very particular requirements for models. I prefer to shoot actors or dancers.
I do not modify my working methods for anyone, and that is precisely why my clients keep coming back and why new people
come to me all the time.
