Ray's Music Exchange is a five piece ensemble from Cincinnati dedicated to the creation of eclectic and innovative music. With influences ranging from jazz and funk to worldbeat and experimental, the collective result is unique and balanced, venturing through many musical ideas. Orchestrated compositions, free and guided improvisations, electronic music, and an adventurous approach to musical communication are all a part of a Ray's Music Exchange performance.
All the members compose music. Whether the group is in an open improvisation or performing a notated score, the compositional process is ongoing. With every new sound, Ray's can morph into any number of styles and textures. The group feels at home with the unknown, and seeks the removal of the expected. With ears and minds open, they take to the art of music-making, presenting new ideas for the thinker and organic grooves for the dancer.
